Rasping Ratings & Raspberries

Hola,

Player ratings and after sleeping on it, I’m no more cheery about the tactics both on the pitch and off it. I understand it was ‘only’ the first game, but our team was more rested than United’s and with the exception of Modric we weren’t missing anyone we needed to do a better job.

The blunt reality is that for an hour or so the game could have gone either way, as bwin betting suggested. Then they scored and and we collapsed. The collapse came in the shape of poor tactics and an inability to concentrate. They scented blood.

But instead of doing the best with what we had, the pot shot tactics that had failed were repeated again and again. They tasted blood with the second goal and Rooney in particular was becoming visibly tetchy he hadn’t scored.

The net result of our dual substitutions was zip. The net result of Sluralix’s substitutions was to provide a more sophisticated foil for Wazza. Giggs was on a matter of minutes before he did what he was told to do.

I refuse to buy anything the Arry apologists are selling. That team, with those tactics last night wouldn’t have put 5 past Hearts. Our tactics were poor. So poor I struggled to work out what, beyond VdV taking pot shots, they actually were.

Friedel -Brad. Dammit Janet! He must be good, he conceded three and still Gomes’ days are sadly unnumbered rather than numbered. If Arry had given him a number it might at least given him some idea of when this humiliation might end.

Walker -We appear to have an ongoing pattern of players who get a bit Tom & Dick. Is this girly nerves, or are they simply not washing their hands after they have been to the toilet?

Dawson – Particularly unawesome this evening. I saw no Captain.

Kaboul – MOTM for the first have and ran out of steam in the second. He was steamless. We are paying these guys too much for them to buckle after an hour.

BAE – Assued stuff in the main. Was he told not to make any runs up field? Ah so that’ll answer that one then.

Lennon – Frail, vulnerable. Like a new born chick he pecked about a bit but largely he fell over and missed the security of his shell. We should sell him …to Venkys.

Kranjcar – It wasn’t Heart you see and under real pressure his touch was less sublime. That said, he was good. He’s a great player. Worth keepin and worth our respect.

Livermore – Ran his heart out and this was largely as he was doing most of our defending on his own. To that note he was a little out of his depth. He’s good stuff, but this was the deep end.

Van der Vaart – Great to see him all lithe and energetic, but less great to see such wasteful play, de Gea is a bit of  a wobbler – but all bar one of his shots at him were actually useless. Was this dumb greed or was he instructed?

Bale – Took a while to get into things and then decided he didn’t fancy it all that much after all. Which was a pity, we could have used him. It was big game.

Defoe – Looked right up for it. Like a dog chasing for scraps. Had his shot that hit the post gone in people wouldn’t be cursing him. Again.

Corluka – He calls his slow cooker ‘the microwave’.

Huddlestone – An abysmal contribution from a Sub. This was Old Trafford and we were lagging. Utterly abysmal.

The pot shot wasn’t going to work so the plan was to take more of them; but that wasn’t it… Good for around 52 mins but there came a point, after Spurs kept the ball for a stretch and had them pinned back, when Rooney grabbed it, ran at Spurs, lifted all the rest back into the game – and the Totts had no response; no equivalent Rooney figure. So ‘a leader’ is the order of the day. Ledley never was one, the Murphys and Freunds and Michael Browns weren’t either. Football is about ‘heart’ but it’s also about ability. We have more ability in the squad than ever before, but I don’t see who has the heart. Not since Graham Roberts has there been somebody who can get stuck in and pick the team up. Obviously Roberts wouldn’t work in this day and age because the game is also about touch and vision, but Hudd isn’t it; neither is Krancjar; neither is Modric [he’d have made no real difference last night; sell him; take the cash]. Lennon’s a disappointment; VDV is class and he needs another 10 classy players to give Spurs what they keep on threatening to have – the power of the side that stuffed us. The only consolation is that the team forced MU to go up the gear; the consolation runs out because Spurs have no fifth gear.

Someone above slated Dawson for last night, and maybe he wasn’t at his best but as the goals were going in the back line was so stretched for one reason or another…anyway, excuses aside, whether it was his best game or not, Dawson has heart and a desire to play for Spurs…and I also think he has enough ability. That is all.

        Agree entirely there.

God I wish the two clowns on talk sh*it would zip their cake holes…..they are now moving onto Bale saying he will then leave if Modric does….just adds fuel to the fire ffs.

Fair enough, but remember O’Hara with his ‘let’s have some passion’ in that struggling Carling Cup performance against Burnley? I like Dawson, a lot, but he’s not that big figure that inspires those around him.

Corluka did better than Walker? I thought Charlie was pretty appalling. I never saw him press the ball, triangles springing up around him and he stood still. If you don’t have the pace to charge people down, you’ve got compensate with good positioning. Charlie stayed wide right when the ball was on the other side of the pitch, hardly ever tucked in, which in turn spread us wide and thin. He really looked lost coming on and couldn’t adapt to the pace of the game.

Walker, yes he has lots to learn defensively, but that will come with games and I thought by nature of him getting forward a little more, it caused Young to drop back deeper to cover him a little more.

Last half an hour we were pretty poor from wide areas. I’m sure our wingers were instructed to push up and try and regain territory, but we just couldn’t keep the ball when we switched to what resembled a 4-1-3-2 and they romped through our flanks.

Corluka IS A DEFENDER. You just criticised him 100% based on the attacking side and did not mention anything defensive! Young had the better of Walker full stop. Young did not once get past Corluka. Corluka also did some nice bits of play in an attacking sense.

I do not understand this love affair with JD. He is an arrogant little shit who sulks when things don’t go his way. He is a selfish arse and is soooo easy to mark out of the game, they know excatly what he will do (run across the 18 yard line until he thinks he has a chance to shoot). If he was a more intellegent striker and more of a team player we would score more goals, simple has. Friedel should now be number 1 choice. NK should never be allowed to play CM again. Pav, feck off back to Russia you useless piece of shit.

Harry get the feck out of football mangement and in to a used card dealership. get Gus Poyet in on a ten year contract and get rid of Sherwood and Ferdinand from the coaching staff. Sell Modric and but a decent replacement, but ffs do not let Harry choose who. Why not you say becasue Hary’s signings are mostly pants. Pinnear, Defoe, Crouch, Chimbonda, Kranjcar, Kaboul is the best of a bad bunch. Please please please do not let him bring in the aged Scott Parker or any other of his fucking heros. This is going to be a tough season and we will be ressurecting the 2 points form 8 games T shirts by mid October. God I’m such a bitch when I am sexually frustrated! HHXX

    • Tony says:

Well that is going too far. Poyet already has been sacked from the Spurs management team remember? Let me see. Spurs finish 4th & 5th in consecutive seasons – which is unprecedented since at least the eighties. And you want to shed the manager? What does he have to do?

    • Eleth_bay says:

it’s probably best that you carry on doing what your good at and being Horny……. poyet!! 10 year contract!!!

    • Essexian76 says:

Yep, typical solution, “Let’s scrap everything, good, bad or indifferent and start again from scratch” Let’s throw piles of dosh at it. buy more, if, but or maybe players as seen on Youtube, and lose even more on previous puchase’s because of course we’re loaded and Levy bathes in goatsmilk WTF!

  • juxta says:

As long as we hang on to rather than replace the likes of the immature, clueless and selfish Defoe, we won’t move on.
Top 6 at best on last night’s showing.

  • SpurredoninDublin says:

Anyone recall Kaboul apologising to the fans after being sent off last year for “touching heads”.

Same stupid thing last night. He needs a good talking to. I can understand that he might be annoyed if someone comes into him “studs up”, but he should not be trying to get himself sent off.
