The Arry Redschnapps Survey Aug 2011

Good morning ladies,

Some interesting blood letting going on in down town Tottinghamshire last night and this morning. What I’m finding interesting is the contrast between what we are experiencing and what is occurring amongst our chums the Woolwich Wanderers.

Even Paul Merson gave Aunty Wenger a blast yesterday, all Plan A and no Plan B he said. About five times. Leading Arch Deacon in the gooner religious cult Alan Smith was on the telly reciting all the glaringly obvious areas that Arsene needs to address in the next what, three days in order to give the gunners half a chance.

A Spurs manager and an Arsenal manager finally, firmly in the same bracket. Whodaeverthunkit?

Bolton are good team to cite here and and I never thought I’d write those words in a favourable way. I don’t hail Owen Coyle as a messiah, but you cannot debate that the performance he got out out of some  – it has to be said – some pretty gormless players last Sunday was tangibly superior to the train wreck served up at The Lane yesterday.

The trotters faced essentially the same Manchester City players, playing in a very similar manner. Dzeko was in identical form yet only managed one goal. Barry took an almost identical wallop from outside the box. Aa Silva even repeated faking injury and falling over a bit. The similarities, I promise you were frightening.

The difference was that Bolton when they conceded did not give up. The difference was that whilst the City fans sang their socks off, the Bolton fans got stuck in and let everyone know who was the home side. The difference is that tactically and as individuals Bolton had enough about them to only lose to a bloody good side by one goal.

I’ve been accused by heretics  of not only Arry bashing but inciting said bashing recently. Perhaps this survey, available to all lovers. mothers, daughters and haters alike will demonstrate if there really is angst in the camp or if there is not. Surveys are a numbers game. Opinions nailed down to how many people really feel that way. Not some wide eyed loner typing into a comments box, I represent many who feel the same way… (these clowns routinely do not by the way) one IP, one vote.

If I’ve ticked the right buttons, you ought to be able to answer each question once, but choose more than one answer to each.Hit the image below, should take you between no time at all and two minutes…

Yesterday for the first time I actually felt slightly sorry for him, he’s been out of his depth this Summer, stuck between a sulking player and a hard-nosed chairman, stuck with the task of trimming a bloated squad and again thwarted by a chairman who wants maximum return for soiled goods. For once, he doesn’t really know what to say so his coping mechanism seems to be to go into talking-bollocks overdrive. Plus his natural urge for self-preservation kicks in.

Not saying that I think he is the right man in the job. His famed man management skills seem to have deserted him, his tactics are transparently basic, his transfer targets are almost peversely unambitious. He is like an old pro, lost in a world he no longer understands, which is why he reaches for your Joe Coles, Scotty Parkers and so on, top top boys from a different era (literally as well as figuratively).

So yeah, felt slightly sorry for him. He looks saggier and more knackered out than he ever has done. But at the same time, I’m pretty sure that he has achieved everything he can and will here, and we are just waiting for him to move on so we can too.

Your last question was most significant. No doubt to me, taking the 40m and putting it into the NPD makes absolute sense at this point. No point in squandering it on players who will perhaps consolidate a mid table finish at best. We already have the squad to achieve that.

Would’ve been intersting to see survey results after we’d just beaten City to qualify for the CL, or after we did Inter and AC. You’re only as good as your last game has never been more true.
Arry is a bit of a big gob but it’s a bit premature to call for the sack after being turned over by the best team in the PL and then the one with th best squad. Give the man a break – we have some regulars missing and I’m sure that the Modders thing is affecting the dressing room. It’s intersting that of the players to speak of the situation they have all come out “understanding Modric’s position…you can’t blame him..” etc etc. Not sure Arry always engages brain before mouth but he was always gonna be good cop to Levy’s bad cop – in this situation the players will all club together under an Arthur Scargill banner and be against the big bad Director – their only loyalty is to the best deal they can get, which for all of them just happens to be with THFC at present. Arry is the one who has to deal with the players on a day to day basis so he’s always gonna be (at best) non-commital to Modrics plight or (at worst) come down on the side of ‘he’s unhappy let’s sell and get the money for more players’ . I’d imagine Modric is without doubt acting on the tactics supplied by his agent and the Chelsea reps – Arry has said he changed his mind from the morning on Saturday. Personally I’d rather see Ratboy rot in the stands – but if he’s causing bad blood in the dressing room (which is hardly Arry’s desired outcome even if Levy wants to tell Chelsea to fuck off) the the best outcome would be to get the £40m and if too late for this window then line up a good deal for January. Our squad is not too far away (when the’re all fit) from the same one that qualified for the CL – hold yer nerve and in 6/7games time with some current new faces (yes incl Parker- at least he’ll track back which is more than Ratboy and Krankie seem to be able to do) we’ll be 4th / 5th. Come December / January the City funsters will be looking to go back to Italy and Spain where it’s warmer – mark my words

Arry has stated that the chairman would look stupid if they sell modric now, but the genius is that he has made modders look pretty bad so that if they do sell, they will say they were forced to. Not because of the money at least…
And of course it will be about the money cause lets face it, between harry and DL they dont know how to earn the respect of the player and convince him to stay.
Whether or not his salary is being paid by us and he has signed a contract…fair enough but id rather get the fucking rat outta of the team.
    he is shit anyway.
    40mil for that? Sell him!!!!
Why are we not excited about selling him?
