The Arry Redschnapps Survey Aug 2011

Good morning ladies,

Some interesting blood letting going on in down town Tottinghamshire last night and this morning. What I’m finding interesting is the contrast between what we are experiencing and what is occurring amongst our chums the Woolwich Wanderers.

Even Paul Merson gave Aunty Wenger a blast yesterday, all Plan A and no Plan B he said. About five times. Leading Arch Deacon in the gooner religious cult Alan Smith was on the telly reciting all the glaringly obvious areas that Arsene needs to address in the next what, three days in order to give the gunners half a chance.

A Spurs manager and an Arsenal manager finally, firmly in the same bracket. Whodaeverthunkit?

Bolton are good team to cite here and and I never thought I’d write those words in a favourable way. I don’t hail Owen Coyle as a messiah, but you cannot debate that the performance he got out out of some  – it has to be said – some pretty gormless players last Sunday was tangibly superior to the train wreck served up at The Lane yesterday.

The trotters faced essentially the same Manchester City players, playing in a very similar manner. Dzeko was in identical form yet only managed one goal. Barry took an almost identical wallop from outside the box. Aa Silva even repeated faking injury and falling over a bit. The similarities, I promise you were frightening.

The difference was that Bolton when they conceded did not give up. The difference was that whilst the City fans sang their socks off, the Bolton fans got stuck in and let everyone know who was the home side. The difference is that tactically and as individuals Bolton had enough about them to only lose to a bloody good side by one goal.

I’ve been accused by heretics  of not only Arry bashing but inciting said bashing recently. Perhaps this survey, available to all lovers. mothers, daughters and haters alike will demonstrate if there really is angst in the camp or if there is not. Surveys are a numbers game. Opinions nailed down to how many people really feel that way. Not some wide eyed loner typing into a comments box, I represent many who feel the same way… (these clowns routinely do not by the way) one IP, one vote.

If I’ve ticked the right buttons, you ought to be able to answer each question once, but choose more than one answer to each.Hit the image below, should take you between no time at all and two minutes…

Just listening to H&J, and it sums up how stupid some broadcasters really are “Spurs should’ve sold Modric in June, I know Chelsea should’ve offered more, but Spurs could’ve bought in four new faces” say’s AJ Well Andy, Chelsea didn’t offer anywhere near his value in June, and therefore it’s a stupid comment isn’t it!

Not listening to them so don’t know what they are saying, total crap is my guess. But regardless I think Levy may have shot us all in the foot somewhat here. He obviously wanted to make a defiant stand for a change. That’s admirable to an extent, but perhaps slightly naive given all his experience.

I think a better line would be: Modric? You must be joking. He will cost you 40m. Don’t bother calling back unless you have 40m in your pocket. And don’t bother calling back after 1st August full stop. 40m now or fuck off.

Of course they would have ignored him anyway, just as they have with his ‘not for sale, matter closed’ stance, but at least he wouldn’t have put himself into such a tight hole, which seems to be blowing back up in our face now. All the while Modric has been ‘not a minute’s problem’ apparently, yet from his crazy interviews to his transfer requests to his refusal to play, he’s been a lot more disloyal and disruptive than Berbatov was.

I didn’t join in with the small minority who booed him yesterday, preferring to offer muted applause. If we want him to stay, booing him 3 days before the transfer window isn’t too clever. But either way he’s showed himself up to be quite the scheming, devious and selfish little fucker and deserves all the abuse which may come at him in the future.

@rogerspurs – do you honestly think harry doesn’t think before he opens his mouth? I would suggest it’s exactly the opposite. for me, any calls for sacking (and I agree but I’d have done it in May this year) are not just borne out of this result. there are so many reasons, but just a few here (1) going to jail – as I understand, HMRC have never brought this action and failed, 27 times before – or he is going to manage england – okay, they’re both just possibilities at the minute, but he’s some facts: (2) he spends more time on TV and in the media than at spurs; (3) he is the ONLY, literally ONLY one talking about modric, not Levy, other than twice to say categorically no, so why does he keep bringing it up? excuses, on commission from Chelski after deal done on that boat with Roman, who knows? but he’s still talking. In some business to consistently not tow the party line is a sackable offence; (4) the fact that he played modric and nico in CM when he had hudd and livermore on the bench, and numerous other tactical errors over the years; (5) the fact that lennon and bale are getting worse not better; (6) the fact that he constantly refers to spurs as “they” and constantly tells us we’ve never had it so good – really redknapp – UEFA cup in 1984 not as good as CL QF and 5th in the legaue? it might be in your self-promoting world but i’d rather win a trophy mate (7) the fact that all fans from any club he’s ever been at hate him for a great many things including leaving them with overpaid over 30s. God the list is endless, I’ll stop boring you all. I just hope he ends up in jail (truly).

      Harry, 4th and 5th. Jol 5th and 5th.
Wonder if Levy sometimes thinks….we were almost there under Jol (save for some dodgy lasagne) The crowd loved him and still do. Everyone respected him. He was HONEST and the vibe was good in the club. Did I get too greedy? Did Comolli twist my ear…

      • MysteriousStranger says:

Just wondering which comment to reply “it wasn’t the lasagne” to? This one.

        Like your name says…

      • Naughty Governor says:

How quickly we forget, we where all losing our patience with Jol´s fav players, he indeed had his petting boys and was hardly a genius tactitian nor that great at reading the game and responding with brilliant substitutions, right?

  • ignacius says:

Redknapp’s league record, pre-yesterday, compares with Spurs’ all-time great Bill Nicholson (who had won the double in that time)

    Bill Nicholson, Football League 107 56 22 29 248 164

    Harry Redknapp, Football League
    107 51 28 28 162 123

The current Redknapp Spurs side are better and more entertaining than any since Pleat’s side in the mid 80s. Spurs best league positions over the past 20 yrs came under HR. Any who think Spurs are worse off under Harry are seriously delusional about Spurs’ place in the food chain.

I thought Honest Martin was caught holding talks with Newcastle while at Spurs, which soured the relationship with club? Is that not correct?

        • Essexian76 says:

It was indeed, notable by the silence as I recall, but again Jol had the added problem of working with DC and Arneson before him. People forget he was our coach firstly.

        • Chirpy says:

He was indeed ‘outed’ as having been sounded-out by the new owner of Newcastle (and best mate of Paul Kemsley, Exec Director of Tottenham Hotspur) Mike Ashley; what unfortunate timing and bad luck this got back to the Spurs hierarchy, who were by unhappy coincidence already harbouring concerns regarding Jol’s committment following consecutive 5th place finishes – fortunately for us they had a replacement in mind eh?

    • Essexian76 says:

Making comparisons to either Pleat or Nicholson isn’t viable or relevant surely. The games totally different. If you recall Billy Nicholson fell out of love with the game after a certain Bill Garner wanted an ‘under the counter payment’ before signing for us, what would he have done in today’s game? Pleat, built in a single season a superbly entertaining and passionate team, that in my opinion had everything any fan could ask for, except a cup. Close but no cigar, but what side. But Harry’s another animal entirely, and what he get’s out of these comments is beyond me? He’s responsible for the smooth-running of the team and if that means appeasement and cajoling battered ego’s, all well and good, but in private eh?, just wish he’d do his job or piss off out of it, enough already!

    • Eleth_bay says:

now compare that to the amount of Money HR as spent in comparison to the other managers and then work out the ratio.

    • cHUCK sPAMMER says:

Ahem! 1984-85 Peter Shreeves 3rd place finish.

  • Iain says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if Harry wants out. He doesnt need the money, the commuting from Dorset must be a pain and most importantly the enormous boost to his reputation he got from turning things round and getting 4th are starting to be undone. No CL this season and he could yet find himself on the wrong end of 2 points from 8 games. Which might mean the FA start having second thoughts.

Whether all his public blatherings are trying to make this happen I don’t know but I reckon if he could get out now relatively gracefully he would jump at it.

  • GordonBennett says:

    Thanks, you made me laugh.
Do you think Harry will still be doing deals on his seaside flats when he’s in the nick?
He’ll certainly be blabbing away to TalkSport et al “there’s a lad in here, good pro, couldn’t wish to meet a nicer boy..in for armed robbery, but he’s a character and we need characters. Plays midfield too, so gonna sign him when I get out”
