Lachanorizo

Good morning all.

Roll on Sunday and the opportunity to watch a football match. Yes, a point in the bag, good to give the kids a run out and all that but it was horrible viewing and I don’t believe I’ll bother watching any more of this pap.

On a practical note it will be interesting to take a peek at ticket sales for home fixtures for games featuring such weakened teams sheets. I would imagine that Levy & Co will be all over Arry on this and it may be a good juncture to run the tape showing fans fleeing the Lane during the course of the second half of the Hearts match.

I will of course be blasted for suggesting this with such illuminating arguments as ‘we woz 5-0 up’ ‘good to see the kids play’ but I wonder (with the notable exception of clowns such as ‘Proper Fan’ who soon naffed off when reminded that the game was included in his Season Ticket…) how many of the poor bar stewards contemplating reaching into their already recession hit pockets will bother.

Maybe I’m out of touch. Maybe I’m not a true fan. Maybe watching children play chase ball is the future. I have never tried Lachanorizo –  Cabbage with rice – but my guess is it’s a truly dull dish.

Harry H don’t know how old you are but maybe you are an old fogey like me who used to watch us play in Europe 30/40 years ago when we played against the poorer Euro teams with a full squad and stuff them 15 – 0 on aggregate. We could do that, and maybe that’s what you want to see (would be gratifying I’ll admit) but the game has changed since then – players get injured more (or seem to ) and the game seems more physically demanding ( as I’m sure the stupid Amercian-sport style statisticians who flash up an on-screen ‘covered 1,354 yds’ for players when they’re substituted will attest). I’m sure DL wants cash through the turnstiles and I’m sure Arry will play a more balanced / mature team when our M*A*S*H inhabitants return from the surgery table – but in the meantime the cash is in the Prem and if we truly want the big prize (which in today’s language is 4th it seems) then it makes perfectly good football and business sense to pick and choose the players for the circumstances. It won’t always provide customer satisfaction though – but as KevtheRev suggets if you got young kids it makes sense to take ’em to a game that is a) cheap(ish) and b) they’ll see the Hotspurs win.
I also think that GDS is shite and Pav hasn’t learned to caress the ball as if it were his one and only love. Or to put it another way his first touch is pathetic.

So what would happen if we were to play against a team made up entirely of kids???

As a goat farmer, I would use it as an opportunity to highlight Billy’s amazing ability to shag his nan and chew through a hose at the same time

Harry Hotspur: The Adrian Durham of the Spurs blogosphere.

Positives for me were Livermore and Carroll. Looks like Falque has a bright future ahead of him. Also looking forward to seeing more of Walker this season, with more experience he’s gonna be an excellent right back. Townsend also looks to be made of the right stuff, not at left back though and does ned to work on his decision making and crossing, nothing that experience won’t cure.

Negatives were Pav and Bassong. Pav is shit, simple as… for an experience international he is arguably one of the poorest strikers we’ve had at the lane since Rasiak. I lost count the number of our attacks that ended at the feet of this clown. He is clueless and the sooner he leaves the better. I felt sorry for Kane having to play upfront with him.

As for Bassong, he simply isn’t a natural defender, doesn’t read the game well and seems shot of all confidence, shame as in his first season i thought he looked a great acquisition. If we do move him on in Jan we’ll definitely need an accomplished player who’s comfortable playing left centre back, a position that only King can play to the required standard currently at the club. Unfortunately too many of our centre backs are only able to play at right centre back and when they’re asked to play on the left side look out of their comfort zone and lack the awareness to command from that position.

As for GDS, showed some bright touches, not enough though for a player who appears world class for his national team but consistently flatters to deceive when he’s wearing the chicken badge.

I’m all for giving the young’uns a chance to prove their worth and show their character in a painfully watered down competition… shame as it used to be an honour playing for Spurs in Europe but it’s worth bearing in mind that it isn’t Spurs that ruined this competition, UEFA have… only way to save it is by offering a place in the CL to the winners… that says it all really!

    Overall, well done lads.

Oh XXXX off with the Durham crack. I was bored stupid, I would never pay more than a fiver to watch that rubbish and I’m perfectly entitled to say so.

You then proceed to give us the benefit of your analysis on players like Pav & Santos who were surrounded by children. Bassong is absolute rubbish who we couldn’t even give away for £1M in the last window, but I guess this is your level so you bask away.

I would be fascinated to know how fast the admiration of last nights game were to stretch if it was on pay per view.

Even in your ruddy armchairs you wouldn’t bother. And this brain surgeon likens me to Durham as if I’m concocting my utter despair at trying to watch last night. Jesus wept.

        Easy pet, don’t pull a hammy…

You didn’t pay a fiver and rather than simply state it was rubbish I offered my analysis on the individuals that were rubbish. Individuals that were playing with our youth players (or children as you put), individuals that hardly showed the maturity in their performances given their experience, so-called ability and comparably lofty salaries.

If it was on pay per view i would still pay to watch that and I would take my young son to watch the game against Shamrock Rovers in full knowledge that it will be a team of fringe and youth players… then again i love watching Spurs, even the youngsters.

Oh and by the way I’m an astronaut not a brain surgeon.

      • He meant it as a compliment. :freu

Adrian Durham + Alan Partridge = separated at birth!

Both hilarious but in Durhams case more a case of laughing at you rather than with you.

I truly hate Durham, cannot abide him, his voice, his opinion. I only wish Ian Wright was back on with him as he used to beat him down each and every-time. But comparisons to HH and that cretin are wide of the mark, and we who frequent this blog can voice an opinion within seconds, whereas listening to numbnuts during a London traffic jam is so painful and without redress.

        • Billy Legit says:

Durham’s shit-stirring antics are one of the main reasons i stopped listening to talkBollocks, along with his parochial, insular, little-englander dementia.

Then again, he does come from Peterborough so what should we all expect…..

*Wrighty used to spew a fair amount of crap himself, granted not as much as Partridge Durham but still almost as bad*

I remember that week end and those were two pretty useful sides.

Ask any fan ” what would you rather be watching ?”

      • Alspur says:

To top it all (as you’ll read), it was Easter weekend – so, the Good Friday game at Anfield was followed by another game on the Saturday (Wolves), before the visit of ‘pool to the Lane on the Monday…

…compare that with our current bunch of overpaid ponces can’t seem to play more than 75 minutes a week without getting some sort of ‘knack…

…over half the first team is currently gracing the chopping board/massage bed/oxygen tent…

the thing is, we have got rid of all the players we collectively wanted to (nearly)
These players would have definitely played last night with a few of the younger ones who were deemed ready. Be it right or not you wouldn’t have seen a few of those players last night in favour of hutton, crouch, bentley, jenas etc. I think this way is the right and proper way. Without the injuries we have we would be speaking more positively about the selections and the quality of the football on offer.

I personally think it is a positive and i am proud of the fact we are in the position to be able to field a team of raw kids in a european competition
It is a testament to how far we have come.

Wouldnt pay more than a fiver to watch it though….
