What’s With The VdV Hate?

Guten tag,

Yesterday the news filtered out that Raphael Van der Vaart had been fast tracked on the old mendy mendy by Marjoe Von Toorn.

Now, not just on here but across the Internet there was resounding response somewhere between ‘so what?’ and ‘so what’s the good news?’

I won’t say I was shocked, sometimes even the most devoutly intelligent football fans get ‘footballed out’ and after another messiah free transfer window and an Interlull, it was always possible this news might get a somewhat muted response.

But has the shine really gone off the flying Dutchman that much?  He irritated the hell out of me in the Yanited game, but I put that down to Arry telling him he had a choice, he could hoof it to Pete or go for gold against the Manc man child.

Van der Vaart was a revelation last season. He was bloody excellent in the main, passing, scoring and kissing little old ladies on the nut like nobody’s business.

Now he seems to be viewed by a good many as a liability. Can any one explain why we don’t need him anymore?

And the real reason why he looks farked after 60 mins and does a hammy is because he on his lonesome try’s to put pressure on the defense and close them down, which means he sprints 40m or so to do that and they just knock the ball around him. Closing down is a team effort and he should save his energy, sit back and let them close down their own space.
He is class. We should attempt a back 3 once in a while, to give VDV support. hell we should try anything different, even the Ardiles 1505 formation. Lennon can’t cross. We kick it down the line to bale all the time. When he goes off, we’re looking to send Niko down the line exactly the same way!! These things aren’t VDV’s fault. And if lennon had of pulled that ball back to VDV blud, we might have been in that game. Frustrating being a spurs fan, but they shouldn’t be taken out on VDV.

I’ve written enough about VdV over the past year, but,

5 goals and 5 assists in his last 23 appearances, his knee issue probably prevents him from being as effective as would be ideal (for a full game) for a player of his ability.

Though I would be keen to point out putting him in the side out on the wide right because Harry seemed to apparently consider him undroppable left us with a winger becoming disillusioned and lacking in confidence (Lennon – you can factor in Harry’s Madrid comments into that too which did nothing for the player’s confidence), and VdV playing in a position which did not cater to his strong points, and if anything highlighted his weaknesses – cutting inside too often leaving gaps out wide/no cover etc., seeing him making bad petty tackles whilst tracking back).

A very good “60 minute” player, but Micky Hazard lasted games better than him – and that’s saying something.

    It’s not just VDV!

In this blog alone there are people saying that Redknapp, Bale and Lennon all aren’t good enough. In previous Blogs Dawson, Kaboul, Corluka, Pienaar, Defoe and 90% of the squad don’t make the grade, according to some supporters.

Even Parker and Adebayor have had a bit of stick and they haven’t kicked a ball for us! Yet second rate players like Pav are treated like Gods.

I was sad that Jenas went out on loan, for he was our hate sponge. Most Spurs fans hated him with venom I can’t claim to understand, but now he’s gone, so who do they hate? They see the latest result, pick a target to take the soul responsibility for said result, and let the hate flood out!

Let’s remember most people were calling for BAE to be sold so Bale could play left back…..That would’ve gone well!

about as much chance of winning the euro millions as that team being fit,

i would have vdv in the middle and lennon/gds on the right though

      • mrdaintz says:

haha yeah i thought about gio on the right but niko got a cracking shot and rafa can drift from the left to link with luka in the middle freeing space for walker to run into maybe away from home you could play corluka at RB a bit more defensive dawson’s a liability without ledley or gallas beside him his postional sense leaves a bit to be desired as proven in games against the mancs.

For me – replace Modric with Parker, then replace Kranjcar with Modric.

      Lovely!!

i think people are confusing hate a bit here, its a bit strong,i don’t hate j**** but he has had his chances in a spurs shirt

i can’t stand lefties and their annoying views on how to f*uck up england but i’ll still give them a good morning and a smile

anyways why does it have to be all or nothing, can’t we have a quality player like vdv to come on from the bench,to me vdv is a magic man,an in the hole player but we don’t play like that and we don’t have a striker who can hold up the ball anyway, maybe adebayor can do it,

lets wait and see if he can perform with the big man before we totally finish him off as noname has said its ade and defoe/pav or ade and vdv behind him it shouldn’t really make much difference in the big scheme of things

at the end of the day vdv is a dutch master sure he ain’t perfect but if we get it right he will get it right

thankfully adebayor gives us options up front, lets hope it finally f*cking works

    • Chrispurs says:

On his performance in the last game, Defoe has to play. He was hitting the ball early, and on target; albeit the center of the goal.
And you’re dead right about lefties, do my nut in.

    • jfdit says:

amen koj amen, vdv is our talisman, pure class and needs better supporting players and cleverer tactics to thrive for us. Maybe a 3-5-2 system with a venables diamond would work with him.

hope we don’t rush him back too soon as we’ll need him once our season really gets going

left wing normally means lazy cunt waiting for a handout in my right wing capitalist pig opinion, make them work for themselves and they’d soon change their tune. :ninja:

      • Boy Charioteer says:

It seems to me that it’s the right wing nutters that have been doing over our country big time over the last 30 years.Right wing means to me either a free market lunatic who wants to see our country flogged off to the highest bidder or a scumbag with a racist agenda. And as for being lazy I’m approaching my 60th year. And I haven’t been out of employment since I was 17.
