What’s With The VdV Hate?

Guten tag,

Yesterday the news filtered out that Raphael Van der Vaart had been fast tracked on the old mendy mendy by Marjoe Von Toorn.

Now, not just on here but across the Internet there was resounding response somewhere between ‘so what?’ and ‘so what’s the good news?’

I won’t say I was shocked, sometimes even the most devoutly intelligent football fans get ‘footballed out’ and after another messiah free transfer window and an Interlull, it was always possible this news might get a somewhat muted response.

But has the shine really gone off the flying Dutchman that much?  He irritated the hell out of me in the Yanited game, but I put that down to Arry telling him he had a choice, he could hoof it to Pete or go for gold against the Manc man child.

Van der Vaart was a revelation last season. He was bloody excellent in the main, passing, scoring and kissing little old ladies on the nut like nobody’s business.

Now he seems to be viewed by a good many as a liability. Can any one explain why we don’t need him anymore?

I do not hate VDV. Just not into his style of play and sometimes, his attitude. He’s a class act, otherwise no one would want him. The blame should go to Redknapp. He has got no clue on how to get the best out of his players, the same goes to all his so called assistants.

VDV needs to be told of his actual roles instead of letting him play as he thinks he should or he’ll continue to upset the team….oh…yes.. he’s been upsetting others quite a number of times (no one tells him in the face, but all of us can see that in their faces, Daws, Modric etc..). That’s Redknapp’s job, if he still can’t, Martin O’Neil or Moyes would be able to “mould” this guy i reckon. Guess y’all know what me saying.

    COYS!

Here’s another thing, has the addition of VDV to our midfield with Modric in it been a success?

    Do their styles clash?

Is it me or does Modric drift into the shadows when VDV is playing?

To your question, it should! The only thing is the coach is unable to make both lads to compliment each other. Thats for Redknapp to figure it out. Just look at what England have achieved when Lampard and Gerrard is not playing together. Capello needs to figure this out too. Imagine what they can both do if they really understand each other, with proper tactical guidence of course..

barcelona do fine getting iniesta and xavi playing well together i know luka and rafa are not as good but there similar types of player an attacking midfielder and a deep lying playmaker it’s old twitchy who cant work it out a different formation would sort it imo.How come we always blame our player’s and not the manager its his fault he picks the team and tactics and harry is tactically inept as shown in first two games your too open as a team with two strikers and two wingers and yet he still hasnt figured out that this may well be the problem, but all i hear is that the messiah has saved us, we where never going to get relegated with the squad we had he did a job fair enough but hes now out of his depth 4 years european football out of a career spanning 25+ years is not a sign of a good manager we need a change for the better of the club.Bill nicholson would be ashamed of the way redknapp put’s down our club in the media…ok rant over..

Redknapp was drooling about when they could play together last year. It’s his failing if the system or selection isn’t right. It’s the smaller teams we failed against mainly last year. The problem was attitude and application.

I thought our failings last season were related to our strikers ‘inability to hit a horse’s arse with a banjo’ lack of goals against teams glued to the bottom 6 places

in the main our attitude and application was ok, our back 5 were occasionally woeful but we created plenty of chances but finished very few.

Exactly!! It sounds so silly to say but it’s true, if even one of our strikers had been on form last season then we would be enjoying CL footie again this season.

Don’t use the “M” Word, lets call him.. “He who shall not be named”

    • eastanglianspur says:

I wouldn’t worry about what we call him he’ll be gone in January. It’s just that I would like to see us make the most of him and VDV playing together until then.

      • PLN says:

I personally think he and VDV are nigh on incompatible in the same team, and if i had to choose between the two, i’d choose the one that scores goals and creates opportunities for team-mates.

Not to say Mr M cant hold the ball well in midfield under pressure, he can, but he doesnt get it done in the final third.

for Wolves I’d go Bale, Huddlestone, Parker, Lennon in midfield, with VDV playing off Adebayor.

Let the Turncoat stew for a while, we need a bit of height in the team somewhere, so Huddlestone gets in if Parker plays, otherwise it’s a Krankie family reunion in there.

Whats hate got to do with anything? I would like VDV out for a while not through injury but to see how we play without him and bring down his ego a bit.As for holier than thou Essexian who thinks its a shootable offence to have a bad opinion on some player he rates, well i rate Gomes and you gave him a good slagging on another site i read yesterday and i respect your right to do so
