What A Pilchard

Good morning.

Yesterday we had the breakfast, today the dog’s dinner. For those of you joining us late I am one of those born again moany types who went from enjoying Arry amiably providing the press with quotes …to one that has become increasingly jaundiced with his inability to break wind without calling talkSPORT and shooting – if not literally talking them through – the breeze.

Arry has responded to Rafa’s gripes via not only the same medium but via the same newspaper.

“Yes, it does seem to be a problem. Rafa can’t run back and chase the full-back. Against the better teams it is a problem. Rafa’s best position is in the middle, playing just behind the front man.

The only problem is that Jermain Defoe plays there too and Jermain is playing very, very well at the moment.

So, I guess I have got a decision to make, haven’t I? I suppose it’s now between Rafa and Jermain over who plays in the team.”

Dear Mr Redschnapps, if you genuinely feel you have a decision of such mind numbing stupidity such as this to make, please make it your last.

by the way do you remember the sandro rollicking seconds after that screamer.”YOUR SUPPOSED TO STAY BACK AND DEFEND”. Senile dementia appears to have taken over. ah luv im.

i think all this is brilliant, for the first time i can ever remember – the players and manager and staff and chairman all want us to be as successful as me. We are all so passionate about my spurs being what they should be we are falling out in the media, on blogs, in interviews and i think its fucking genius.

in three years time when we are top of the heap we will look back at this and remember players and managers openly showing their ambition and for the first time a better player being dropped for the sake of the team and bringing us the start of our success.

therefore – defoe in but only after 60mins when he replaces rafa then rafa out when we have a better defoe replacement (unless vdv stays as a bench warmer)

While you have not stated where your stats are from it has to be pointed out Defoe has scored most of his goals in the best league in the world.

Good question. Comparing their careers at Spurs JD has scored 101 goals in 263 games a strike rate of a goal every 2.6 games

VDV has scored 17 goals in 40 games a strike rate of a goal every 2.35 games

I see no question, simply a statement. :-D

Think of how many of those goals JD scored in the one game, to pad out his strike rate. Five against Wigan alone. Extending the applied logic it probably means he doesn’t score at all in more than two out of every three games.

Still, he is playing in the best league in the world.

I don’t get the fuss here, VDV was honest about his good points and shortcomings, ‘arry agreed whilst keeping defoes chin up. Nothin more to it. Just a story filling inches on a quiet press week. Let the press say whatever, I couldn’t give a shit how they stir as long as we get 3 points next week..( and there’s no hidden reference to u HH in there my dear, merely the kitty litter liners)

give defoe a game on the right midfield and vdv behind adeboy and see how much tracking defoe does

i can’t believe the vdv attacks,he is actually world class you know, scores, often the opener and creates,no contest in who starts upfront with adeboy

personally i like defoe always have,he doesn’t appear to cause trouble and when he is on form scores goals,i feel this season he is contributing more aswell,he was on the bench with berbatwat and psb, left and came back, surely he knows spurs is as big as it gets for him and he plays for england too off the back of it,even though he hasn’t been picked for this squad

pav, crouch and defoe let us down last season in my opinion, defoe was injured early and never got back i think

i’m happy for adeboy and either defoe/vdv to partner but it just makes sense to start with vdv and let defoe finish the job off

we only have adeboy on loan as it is and pav will be off as far as i can tell so we will need defoe and vdv at spurs

arguments and press talk don’t matter when you are winning and i fully expect us to keep on winning….COYS
