Aston Villa

Good Morning.

Stone me. I went to see Alabama 3 last night. Been some fair time since I first saw them and if I left with only one thought it was that their audience these days is a demographic I want no part of. Ever been trapped in a dimly lit public toilet with flatulent geriatric swingers? I say swingers but that implies a frisson of sexual adventure. The last person to lay a hand on the bulk of this lot’s naked flesh was almost certainly a midwife.

So to the game.

After having a cursory flick through the rest of this week’s games the Interlull has down a number of sides the power of goo and I would hope that this refreshed factor would apply to us too. We could go 4th. A win would put us 3rd. But as everyone else has played we’ll stay 5th even if we botch it. But I must stress I do not anticipate that happening. Our form is only bettered by City. We are officially doing quite nicely thank you very much.

The Villa’s record is littered with their usual array of drawn games. Particularly away from home where they have drawn 4 lost 1 out of the last 5.

The friendlies don’t appear to have taken too greater a toll on us, van der Vaart has apparently responded well to the cod liver oil and shaken off his hamstring. Pathe News Boy has been lying in a floatation tank filled with deep heat listening to Winston Churchill recordings after his victory against the Amarda.

Prediction? Ade’s due a goal. He’s been off the score sheet yet contributed selflessly when he has played I’d like to see him beaming and throwing some shapes on the touchline again. Villa will pack the midfield and hope to get Barren Dent away on the break, so it’s vital we have a strategy in place that allows us to play football.

My heart says 3-0, my head says 2-0. If they score it’ll be down to us and one or more of our lot will be in line for a right telling off and no mistake. Monday night football.

We played well, but this is the worst Villa side I’ve seen for a long time.

Great to see that the defence, when they had something to do, were not missing. I am begining ti understand why the Bull is keeping Gallas out of the team.

Best moments for me was seeing the understanding between VDV snd Ade getting better all the time.

How comes when we outclass a side it’s the worst “name team here” I have seen such an’such have put out since …yada yada……..

I am not deprecating us. I just think that Villa didn’t have a clue. I think I said the same about the Liverpool game, but we were also magnificent on that occasion.

Today we didn’t look bad, but against the Scousers, we looked world class.

They were awful, to be fair…Then again what do you expect, Heskey…Bent…Hutton…They had 6 defenders and 3 strikers, it’s the first time for a while that we dominated it in midfield…

I should add that prior to this game, Villa had only lost once in five away games and that was to Shitty.

The form book said we might have a tough time breaking them down, but that was never the case. I expected more of them, and I don’t think we will have many easier games this year.

    Nailed it H.

This is where our form has put us, despite the disadvantage of having both Manc sides on the first two weekends. Newcastle still have to play, Cheatski, the Arse, ManU and Liverpool (I think), but even a couple of those will settle them down to where they should be and that’s not trying to take anything away from a really good start for them especially after all their troubles.

If we can stay consistent (and I think we can) and keep taking three points off the teams below us, we can make a fist of this season. Cheatski are beatable next month and we are clear till end of January. Yes top four, but we are actually equipped to be third and if we win the game in hand, we are just 2 points off Utd.

I know its all ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ but if (see), we can keep this consistency through to end of Jan, we will really be sitting pretty!

How can we f*ck this up? Well ‘arry in the shovel and mouthing off about how the lad should be allowed to go (read Bale, Modric, Sandro, etc.)…..Lasagna-gate, Newgate……….piece of piss really!

WBA up next. Barcodes and Bindippers are up aagisnt the Mancs. A win on Saturday, and we are either going to make up ground on the Mancs, or put distance between us and some of the chasing pack.

well done everybody a great night for us and witout a problem,we are finally answering the questions when they are asked

you just cannot argue with that lineup modric ran the show and baler is out of this world,we just need to keep on winning,we are defo in the race for auto CL place if we keep our heads up

well done harry thats 22 from 8 and nicely above the 2 points a game tally

Anyone remember how many of us were holding our heads in our hands in August after the transfer window. We spent £5 mill on a Shammer that was approaching his sell-by. A 40 yr-old GK on a free, and an ex-Arse player who seemed to cause trouble wherever he went.

LEVY OUT. Tight fisted bastard should have bough Carrol and Torres when we had the chance, even if it was going to. put us into bankruptcy.

    August seems so long ago!

    • SpurredoninDublin says:

Just another recollection from August: Anyone recall those so called “pundits” who said “it would be a bad thing for football if Chelsea were not allowed to buy Modric”?

    • hartley says:

The key is not who we bought, it’s who we sold….Adebayor aint no Klinsmann and Parker is certainly no Mackay, but Crouch and J**** aint footballers therefore we are now playing with 11 men and with the class we have elsewhere in Modric, Bale and VdV, not to mention a fit looking King, an assured Benni, a nearly back to his best Lennon, and a whole host of very good players we have a very, very good chance of upsetting the applecart and going all the way.. ;-)
