Curiouser And Curiouser

Good evening.

Curious ain’t the half of it. Only Professor Stephen Hawking and Margaret Thatcher pairinbg up on Strictly Come Dancing could have possibly dropped more points than the Premiership ‘big boys’ did today.

Fulham haven’t been playing convincing at all this season yet this lot are suddenly overachieving  footballing warriors who can waltz into Second Hand Fridge and nick a point before tea time.

Manchester City up until this morning were a handing out jolly good hidings  like Mario Balotelli was handing out twenty pound notes. Yet West Brom, possibly one of the dullest football teams ever devised by man – managed to successfully muffle them.

Liverpool have admittedly been carrying Andy Carroll about like a damp sack of cement in human form all season. But Blackburn are so godawful even they have fewer points/reasons to continue trading than Bolton Wanderers. Yet they too audaciously swooped into Afield and grab a point.

Meanwhile, the mighty Tottingham are still third and still with that increasingly valuable game  in hand. Wow.  And our next three fixtures in apple pie order are Norwich(A), Swansea (A) and West Brom (H).

To try and construct some comparative analysis between our next games and other team’s next three would be not just tricky but actually insane. However what we do know is that football form is self propelling beast. Just ask Owen Coyle.

If we can add another 9 points to ‘the haul’ so far – which we really ought to – then the momentum should keep us securely in the top four for a good while yet.

Happy Christmas so far, anyway.

Sure, today’s results are great for us…..but you dissed two of my favorite people, Hawking and Thatcher so I must ask you to stand in the corner until after our game v. Norwich.

Would be nice for us to get 9 points from the next 3 games! But I wonder if tomorrow the Arse will do us a favour like the rest, except ManUre done today! That will be a blessing I couldn’t even dream of asking for!

If Kaboul and Sandro play, then we will not struggle in central defence as the former can neutralize Hoult while the latter would provide much needed support to central defenders. Benoit and Bale have to and will attack the left flank on high frequency as it is the key to the 3 points. Norwich are not as strong as Newcastle were when we played them away earlier in the season, but also true we are not as stronger as we were due in part to sustained injuries. Having said that though, the 3 points are there for the taking.

Having flown over from CasaAlfie in Sweden for the seasons festivities I’m now champing at the bit. Together with my family which contains far too many females for any mans sanity we are staying at my mothers in Huntingdon. When I saw the fixtures in the summer I had to explain to my dear old dad (he’s still in Tottenham)that we would be staying in Cambridgeshire for Christmas. The phone rang yesterday ‘you git.it’s because Spurs are at Norwich ain’t it’. Don’t miss a trick even at 87 does dad. Tomorrow mother is taking care of the missus and 6 daughters while I sneak off with my brothers for what I feel will be a massive banana skin.
Must think positive but there’s been so many surprises (as per at xmas) that I’m not confident.
Ps the old man is taking care of the clan while we travel to Swansea.
    Fucking love my Tottenham

They say your not a man till you have a daughter, so having six daughters means you have too be a Cockerel supporter. Classy Spurs Classy Fans.

Expect an aerial bombardment tomorrow so hope we have learnt from the Stoke game.
Swansea are different as they try to pass it on the floor but sometimes over-pass and give the opposition a chance.
We need to be winning these games as we have some tough ones coming up in February and still have to go to City, L’Arse, Liverpool and Chelsea.
If we lose those 4 away games our quest for top 4 will be tough.

Get February out of the way, and even if we have a bad run, as long as we don’t go below fifth, then a 4th place finish is the least we can expect IMHO. For the first time in years, we have what looks to be an easy run-in to the line.

My best guess is that we need 36 points from the next 22 games, and we got 35 from the first 16. Nine wins, nine draws, four losses for the rest of the season is not a superhuman task that we are facing.
