The Pre Match Prattle

Good afternoon.

What can I tell you about Norwich? Well if you cross the bridge as you emerge from the railway station there is one of the finest KFC’s I’ve ever had the pleasure to set foot in. Another culinary high spot includes a stall in the city centre market doing while u wait Chinese food that will quite literally blow your socks off.

Let’s talk football before I morph completely into Partridge.

City sit eleventh. They precisely mark the divide between the sides that will cause you trouble and the ones that really shouldn’t. Grant Holt’s name will be thrown into the conversation, but whilst good news for Norwich fans to me he’s marginally more exciting than Carlton Cole.

Removing any arrogance from the analysis and basing a prediction purely upon how the two sides have shaped up so far this season, Spurs should hit this lot so hard they wake up in Sheringham.

Walloping of all times? Something damn close. Prediction 0-4.

Next 5 leaue games look winnable, before we hit a run of tough matches in February.
Biggest concern is our slowly growing injury list which may mean our only fit centre backs are Gallas and Bassong.
If we are buying in January, lets do it early and get the benefit for the whole of the month.
Proper cover for Lennon would be handy.

Keep it tight, boss the middle and catch them on the break should see us home by two clear goals. Go toe to toe attacking and they are capable of putting a couple of useful moves together and surprising us.

Bank holiday crowd at Carrow Road will spur on the home side to do their best as we have seen with other results yesterday so this game is not as easy as it appears on paper.

We(the club) keep going on about how strong the squad is, but to be honest i havnt seen much rotation of it. When Bale hasnt played, VDV or modders plays left when the excuse for keeping krankie out the team is that Bale has been in good form. The last two games, parker has looked knackered. This Norwich game, is the type of game andros townsend or the like would do well in. We do seem to have this fear factor for lesser sides, its like we dont know how to win sometimes.

The fact is we should be beating norwich and we should do so with a few squad players in the starting line-up. Otherwise we go there ‘full strength’ and huffing and puffing ourselves into the ground with nothing to show for it. Seen it all before.

I would like to see Parker and bale rested, at least benched! shock horror.
put Sandro in there and let gio start on the right or push walker up and give charlie a chance. Bassong and gallas should be fine in the middle of defense…I think danny rose is a future england left back and he should start too!
    Seriously.

    cmon its Norwich right>?>???

Still waiting for Gio to start myself, after all it’s been three years now!

      • Razspur says:

Gio by all accounts played well for Santander and has been MOTM for Mexico on a few occasions, always played on the right wing, everything should be in place for him to move on up. Watching him against Shamrock made me wonder has he become dissillousioned with the club or lack of opportunity, a shame because he seemed such a future prospect.

Different standard and pace Raz, remember Sandro when he first came on and wanted that second touch and more time on the ball? Gio hasn’t adapted, although he played well for Ipswich in the Championship, but so did Taarabt and he’s hardly set fire so far in the prem.

      • Razspur says:

Yes but as you say he has had 3 years to get up to speed, if it`s not there now it never will be. Sell him along with Corluka, Bassong and Pav, 26 mill will pay for Llorente and 1 wage compared to 4. Just need to finance Vertonghen and poss Cahill unless Daws is really 100%.All in the garden is rosy.

Like Chiversmetimbers I have a nagging chill in me ol’ bones. I feel a bit like Jeremy Thorpe’s wife must have when she found out he had a ‘male friend’ – I don’t know which way to turn. The next 3 or 4 games bear the hallmarks of much of our history – we’re on the verge of “a new era of glory” or “another false dawn”. Sadly the latter appears more times than is welcome. We should by rights give ’em a tonking if we’re serious….. too m,any times we’ve seen the Xmas pud hang heavy on the teams collective belly. Time to man up – and prove the sad sacks like me that we are serious about it this time! ” The whistle blows, the cockerel crows…..”
