The 8 O’Clocker: Modric Unhappy, Samba Wants Out, Remy Deal Off…

Good evening.

This window is so quiet if you close your eyes you can just see Ted Moult pondering over which feather to use. But will Arry fit the best into this the Best Performing Side Since ’61™?

“I’m staying,” Loic Remy told Canal+. “I will 100 per cent stay at Marseille until the end of the season and even the end of my contract.

“I have spoken with the president and the staff. And it would not be right for me to leave this club.

“We’ll see next summer but that’s not even in my head for now.”

Closer to home a young man by the name of Christopher Samba has handed in his notice at Blackburn Rovers. This is hardly a seismic announcement. He was quoted saying, “things have not gone as I was told , it is time for a change”.

He is probably telling the truth. I’m not familiar with every single detail of the ins and outs of the Venky Operation but as I say, ‘you don’t need to fall off a chair to know it probably hurts.’

If I was Blackburn fan I would have had more respect for them if they had simply renamed the club The Peri Peri Pirates.

But what Blackburn got were two three halfwit rumours/threats/lies about Emporer Franz Beckenbauer and Geoff Hurst or similar joining them. It would have been more credible if they’d have said that Nick Griffin was signing.

Steve Kean was recruited for his ability to say,’ yes’ and the only money they put in was to service existing debt. Oh and of course the cash they had to give the Trustees. Anyway, that’s their business.

Modric is ‘unhappy’ says Garth Crooks in his Tean Of The Week column. I wouldn’t go for Garth’s throat though. I see in the little Croat’s body language he’s got issues. I don’t trust him and therefore I’m just hoping we get as much out of him on the pitch before next summer and then as much off the pitch for him in pounds, shillings and pence.

Our first signing – Falque. Totally underwhelmed with that one.

  • Harry Hotspur says:

On our set pieces, it’s not fair to single out individuals. We’ve got more coaches than National Express.

    Anyone fancy some training?

    • Hartley says:

I do, I’ve got my training pants on and am ready to go, oops I’ve gone….thank god for the training pants..

      @HH

On the issue of set pieces, ours seem to come in three different types:

      A. The “blast” in which he ball is blasted over the bar.

      B. The “Hail Mary” in which a corner kick is taken and a prayer is said that it might actually land on the heads of one of our playera.

      C. The “amen” which as it’s name suggests, is a short prayer so it becomes a short corner instead, safe in the knowledge that unlike the “hail mary”, the prayer will be answered and will arrive at the feet of one of our players, only for the recipient to then make a hail mary pass from two yards closer in.

Seriously though, I thought your National Express comment was spot on, and notice that we seem to have coaches for every area, not that I can say I have seen anything to convince me of their effect. Are we the only team with this system?

As for parking the bus, we do what we do, they do what they do-it’s football. However if we haven’t the guile or ability to break them down, then we’re not good enough. It’s going to get a whole lot tougher from now till then end of the season and teams such as Fulham, Norwich will consider a point gained the same as our three if they scrape out a draw, like Wolves Sat. Chelsea and Man Utd have had the same problem and managed OK to overcome stubborn teams-while the Goons bleated about teams being negative and stifling the game, while dropping valuable points.

  • kojac says:

wait, what, a player is unhappy with the amount of games he has played in the prem(we just can’t win) and garth says we are doomed without him,

for an ex spur crooks really is a negative sob,he used to play upfront when i was a kid and now he thinks he is a journalist,he is bonkers by all accounts and i saw him sucking harrys arse on footy focus big time on sat,

anyway don’t fancy ratboys chances much of a getaway until the summer,if he really wants to,i guess if the chavs aren’t Cl,he won’t fancy them so much

nothing has changed we need top 4 to compete,we have timed our run exquisitely,i’d say, don’t let us down harry and the lads for christs sake, that would be a real knockout blow, levy has to keep the club positive,in that footy focus interview with harry,it sounded like he will take the england job to me and why wouldn’t he,at his age, levy needs to keep planning and keeping these ticking along,i think you should take a shot with some young technical player in jan, like luka and hope it works out for next season, bed them in,you should never stop buying in my opinion

    • Northern Spur says:

top 3 needs to be the minimum goal in my opinion. If there’s a 4th place CL qualifier to play, it will do nothing to keep the current squad happy and it may make new signers a bit reluctant to commit. Just sayin…

      • kojac says:

i agree top 3 should be what we are aiming for from here but top 4 is a must for us to get on the bargaining table and better commercial deals

        • Hartley says:

What nonsense…..we Should be aiming for the DOUBLE!! :hae:

        • kojac says:

we aim for the treble or quadruple every year hartley come on keep up :hae:

        • Hartley says:

Who loves ya baby? I do….but I still think that in the position we are in at this point of the season we should be looking to win every game, even if that means at 1-1 after 70 minutes, going all out for the last twenty minutes for the win…it’s what Fergie does and look where it’s got his teams over the years…we didn’t do that against Wolves..

        • kojac says:

so do i,i think we are doing that,we couldn’t close wolves off,you practically have to be perfect to win championships, its a tough business

aslomg as we are above the chavs and goons i will be a happy spur

      • #Q`1 says:

Chelsea will make sure they finish above Spurs don’t worry about that. They have too ex offenders from Liverpool Torren and Meriles they will be up too speedi no just look how gaunt and red faced Torres i even Lampost has lost weight

    • Ronyid says:

Harry may take the england job but I don’t think he will leave Spurs and so will do both jobs. He said a few weeks ago that he would be bored with the england job as there would be a lot of down time and would miss the day in and day out goings on.

    • essexian76 says:

Considering Modric himself has clearly said he ain’t interested in going anywhere right now, and will wait and see what happens at the end of the season, isn’t all this a little previous? As for his ability, well, he looks great on the ball and works his gonads off, but his stats don’t equate to a world class player if you’re being uber clinical. Few assists and fewer goals for an attacking player don’t make pretty reading however you package it.

  • Paulio says:

Is it just me or are Modrics corners fucking shite?? yeah yeah he can run and shit and do a few tricks but his shot is piss poor and for all the good things he does he fucks a lot of things up!!

    • onedavemackay says:

You’re on you’re own there son the rest of the Universe think he’s one of the best players in the World.

      • Harry Hotspur says:

Here here. He may be a chicken badge allergy sufferer but he’s an extraordinary footballer.

        ***

On his ‘interviews’ on the OS – I would be more interested in his Croatian media stuff and the two do not tally.

Do I want him to stay? Not arf. He’s sensational. Do I believe he will? Maybe, if we win the league or finish above Chelsea.

        • Loffree says:

It’s “hear hear” not “here here”.

Sorry, but I am reading your comments of people who push back on your opinion for you to then get on the defensive. I just thought I would act a tad pedantic towards you.

Your quote when you say “as you were dropped on you head as a baby I’ll give you the link” is distasteful, arrogant and wrong – your title implies that Modric is unhappy at Spurs when in actual fact when you click on the link you realise he is only unhappy because of the amount of games being played.

When things are regurgitated constantly people start believing in them. Why post a title which is misleading? You are a Spurs fan, act like one and stop posting propaganda.

      • 4 Ever Hopeful says:

No he is very good but he is far from complete, for some of the reasons Paulio says.

      • Paulio says:

No denying he’s a quality player, but he’s no corner taker!

    • #Q`1 says:

Spot on over hyped two timing rat

  • bukkake-breath says:

Gsrth is a well respected ex spur but as a pundit i can only describe him as full retard

besides that i do think modders will go in the summer and i do believe we can replace him
the only problem will be keeping other players happy after we get slated for being a selling club.
