Personal Terms Agreed

Good afternoon.

€75,000 a week is the salary being touted by Dutch journalist Jan van Eyck . Personal terms are not the issue. But the stumbling block appears to be the fee. The gap between the alleged asking price and the alleged offer seems big, if not insurmountable.

Ajax are said to want €16.3M for Jan Vertonghen and Spurs are supposedly offering €10.1M.

For the Eredivisie player of the 2011/12 season it seems to be small change and we need to get this done before the whole thing goes sour and we’re left clutching  straws.

Vertonghen’s stock is well valued or so it seems …with Bruins Slot (a scout at Ajax, ex-assistant at Barcelona,  “Vertonghen is a left-footed Koeman. Don’t understand why Barça don’t push for him.”

If anyone thinks this is going to be done before the winner of the  Champions League is announced I think they are being  incredibly optimistic. This guy is the real deal and will not come cheap.

also he has said he couldn’t turn down AC Milan so if we don’t get him soon they will… get him in levy!!!

Got to be worth a classic “we will meet you halfway”. We got way over the top for Crouch & about the right cash for Pav so €13m shouldn’t be a problem especially as the wages are reasonable (for a footballer, not a normal human being). So who would you let go at the back? Corluka, Gallas, King?

Bassong, looked poor at Wolves when I saw him play, in a poor team, but hasn’t looked great for us when played after a decent first season.

Khumalo, was happy to see how he developed after joining from SA, but has not held down a place when out on loan which is not a good sign.

Corluka, who I actually rate, but Walker has cemented his starting place and we have Naughton returning from loan at Norwich and can cover both flanks.

Naughton’s return may also mean Danny Rose be surplus, if he can cover left too. Kaboul / Vertonghen can both cover right / left if required too, as well as Bale moving LB, utilizing our greater depth in Midfield.

Also, he’s bound to sell loads of shirts to the lady supporters, being a clean cut, good looking boy. (so my lady tells me) :-)

But after Saturday a host of excellent players will be wanting to come to WHL and the Ajax people will also be monitoring developments. When the final whistle of the CL final will be blown, Levy will have the upper hand in this and other potential transfer deals. Saturday is not that far away, is it?
