The Bid Went In At Ten O’Clock This Morning

Good afternoon.

Three snippets from the foreign press to explain if not excuse, the near complete and utter lack of success in the transfer market by Barter & Droppit Enfield Ltd t/a THFC.

“I feel sorry for Adebayor because he has no chance at City, has no chance of playing here this season. So it is important that you can find a good solution,”

The above from Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini who was talking to a.bola.pt about the impasse on the Emmanual Adebayor fiasco. A.bola say that the actual transfer fee agreed between City and Spurs was €7M, but Ade then decided he wanted to up his wage demand.

“It is not true that there is an agreement with Liverpool. The only concrete offer was made by Tottenham, which proposed 16 million euros for the player.

The transfer did not materialize because they offered a very low salary. It may be that re-express interest if Modric exit. Inter are also interested but not able to match bids from Premier League clubs, “

The above from Oscar Betancourt speaking to Calciomercatoweb.it

And finally we’ve apparently made a bid for Yan M’Vila, which of course will also be pointless if we can’t match the boy’s Mickey Mouse wage demands… from lequipe.fr…

Yann M’Vila Rennes hopes to sell by the end of the transfer window.

Things seem to be accelerating in recent hours. Monday morning, 10 o’clock, the Breton leaders have received an offer of 15 million euros for their midfielder. She comes from London, specifically Tottenham. It is not suitable to the wishes of the Britons who hope 20 million euros. But the club’s financial situation might change their minds

Isnt he a defensive midfielder?? So what, our current line up is going to be him and Jenas in midfield…with Defoe as our only striker?? Quality…feeling well optimistic about picking points up off the bindippers.

    • My Heart Is White says:

No-one wants Jenas, I think we played him pre-season to try and get others interested.

I’m interested in *****. I’m interested to know how he’s managed to pull the wool over so many manager’s eyes for so many years. For this is is truly ‘Genius’ and not ‘*****’.

It’s genius alright. I can’t believe how it’s possible. Tom carroll is better, huddledtone is better, Livermore is better, sandro, Parker. Why is jenas getting valuable preseason time? Is AVB as big a mug as the other managers? What has jenas got on Levy, perhaps?
Good grief are we really going to make the same balls up by playing jenas again? Frightening.

  • MarseilleYid says:

When a player’s agent is the only source confirming a bid from a club, it is bullshit of the highest order.

M’Vila bid I can believe when the club’s president comments on it.

  • JimmyT says:

I am genuinely starting to worry now. I really thought that with AVB coming in and the training ground completing that we were on the verge of something new.
Now it seems clear that we’re determined to remain the penny-pinching mid-table make-weights we have been for so long. It is not a fallacy that you have to “speculate to accumulate” and, in relative terms, we’re not looking for a HUGE speculation.
All ITKs are running the same stories round and round until the suggested player signs for someone else.
Would I be excited by Ramirez? Too right, he was outstanding when I saw him for Uruguay (twice) during the Olympics. Do I want Ade? Definitely. He was way better than I dared hope last year. Would it be prudent to pay £30m for Llorente? Of course! He’s one of the most complete centre-forwards in the game and we can get him for the same price as Utd paid for Veron 10 years ago.
I’m not happy and all this “patience is a virtue” crap is deluded. It will only lead to last minute panic buying. We haven’t got the time to wait anymore; we play Newcastle in about 100 hours.

    • james says:

Prudent to spend £30m on Llorente – are you an idiot??? It would be foolish to spend that amount on a player with no resale value. We sold Berbatov for that amount and that fee, and looked what happened to him at one of teh greatest clubs in Europe at the moment. Stop bitching about Levy. Be a man stop panicking like some bird, and grow some balls

      • Astro Spur says:

I think that llorente could be got for a little less than £30 mil and would be worth every penny. He has at least 5 years left in him, and if he helped us into the Champions League every one of those 5 years, he would pay for himself.

Sometimes you have to spend money to make money!

      • Spurstacus says:

        Fine riposte.

      • JimmyT says:

Such a joy to be rebuked by prejudice. You made an excellent point about the Berbatov transfer and then ruined it with your rampant sexism.
That said, Berbatov is one example; 27 is hardly a daft age to buy a player (“in his prime” I think most commentators would say) and we’ve wasted an incredible amount of money on younger players that have then failed to “re-sell”. I, for one, don’t want to judge new recruits on what we may get for them in the future but rather on what they will do on the field. 4 good years would represent a solid return on the investment. I’d pay £7.5m every year for 20+ goals.

    • Astro Spur says:

      Agreed! :daumen:

    • ISM says:

      2 weeks,2 days…

  • Frontwheel 2 says:

Bale playing striker like Terry Henry?

  • TMWNN says:

The bid went in at 10, but was laughed out seconds after.
