I’m Stunned He Didn’t Opt For Adoption Given The Importance Of The Game

Good evening.

What becomes of the broken hearted? It would seem they end up supporting Tottenham Hoyspur.

The game took two turns for the worse before the kick off as the news broke that both the boy himself Gareth Bale and Mr Demblele were going to both out of action. On the Bale end of things I have to express a dismay. I know people who’ve had to miss funerals due to work commitments.

In my limited yet hugely valid experience of childbirth the father being there tends to use the, ‘I was there, wasn’t I?’ as some sort of a statement to reaffirm that he still cares and still adore a woman who they have long since begun to loathe and frankly see as un-adorable. Bale’s absence to me was just yet another example of modern football being far too interested in what footballers feel or care.

Am I blaming the defeat on Bale? Of course not. Am I using him as a whipping boy? Of course not. Just sayng it’s symptomatic of things. Things that aren’t good.

Huddlestone’s gifted but lethargic calling card is expired. Dempsey looks woefully shy of the mark. Walker wants melting down and turning into glue. The boss needs to have more faith in his plan and less in the players. Make substitutions sooner.

I’m off for a cold chicken sandwich and some crinkle cut chips. It’s the way I roll…

We created 23 chances against the top team in the Prem and scored 2 – that suggests we need better finishers.

Their game improved significantly when Thudd went off and I thought big Tom was one of our mores useful guys he may be slow but he makes better use of the ball than many

    • swedgeman says:

Agreed, but he really needs to up his workrate..a talent not realised cos he`s too bloody lazy.By the way HH do you not have kids or did you miss their birth, i am guessing from your comments about bale that one of the two apply.

    • onedavemackay says:

In fact Chelsea scored their third within a minute of Thudd going off

    • LLL says:

The substitution of Thudd was really a crime against substitutions. He took off one player and replaced him with a lesser one and played him in the exact same position. A poorer decision than anything I can remember Redknapp mustering if I’m honest.

      • onedavemackay says:

Well you may not remember H making poor substitutions but he did. However, I think Tommy must have either been knackered or injured

        • LLL says:

He did make poor ones, yes, but this one had no apparent justification and defied all reason and sense from the #tacticalgenius. Mostly when Redknapp made subs you could at the least understand what he was thinking, even if it was simplistic or just about giving Defoe 10 minutes to run around a bit – which was his regular one. With this? I honestly can’t see the thinking. I just think he doesn’t really rate Huddlestone to be honest. He’d already had to eat a bit of humble pie by starting him and leaving Livermore, who he’d previously preferred, on the bench. I think it was just squaring that personal dilemma up for himself, nothing more. Certainly of no practical benefit to the team.

Nice one LLL. We field an unfortunately weakened team against the league leaders, lose and all you can do is have continual digs at the man in charge like he was responsible for Adebayor’s miscontrols and Walker’s brain fart moment.

We might have gone down 3-2 but had plenty of chances to level an open game. But I guess AVB’s tactics backfired when Walker acted like a twat and helped them put a draw beyond us?

          I thought better of you.

          Only kidding. ;-)

        • LLL says:

Yes, nice one Mysterious. The players can make mistakes which you and others are happy to criticize but when the starting line-up has obvious flaws and the boss makes nonsensical substitutions, these are not allowed to be considered as contributing factors to our loss?

I didn’t think any better of you. Not much you say really makes much sense when you scrape the surface off it.

        • MysteriousStranger says:

You say it like you’re never critical of individuals yourself. Players are only fair game if you say so, or posters?! I don’t see you discriminate.

I guess you were stung by some truths, in my response. You have been here all night promoting your digs at the manager’s tactical nous (rather your decided upon lack of it) which you’ve had run rampant at the first/next opportunity that afforded itself – an opportunity seized upon by you like a man poss obsessed. It was expected of course, because you’ve carried on regularly like the next available loss depended on it. Hence my observational remark.

But then I suppose it’s a bit like how I slag off Defoe. Though, anyone with half a footballing brain can see where Defoe’s game is deficient. Sadly though he hasn’t even got that with which to see it. Time and time over you see him attempt to make space for himself and regardless of the percentage chance of success or failure, he shoots towards goal, ignoring the open team mate in a better position, to fire into a wall of defenders.

That said, some positives, we had over twice as many shots as they did. To make out like we were never at the races is daft. With our tactics, and the players at our disposal, we conjured all those shots. Creating twice as many scoring opportunities as them, must be down to the bad tactics!

Bad play though, oh that counts for a lot too. And Adebayor, Walker., Defoe (and not excluding others) were putting on demonstrations of how not to do it a fair bit.

People here are slagging off THudd, some are praising him and then questioning his substitution for Livermore, but whatever the view – regarding his performance today I took a largely positive one FWIW – he’s been out a long time and hasn’t had a completed league start since April 2011. He’s only managed to last the full shift against Hearts last season and Carlisle this. Two strolls in the park in comparison to today. AVB wasn’t exactly blessed with many other options on the bench.

I’m hoping, tactically speaking, that in appearing quite stationary Brad Friedel gets dropped now. After all, he/we did ship 4 goals from only 10 shots/7 on target. In a game in which we had 26 shots/10 on target.

You can argue AVB should have played Lloris if you like – but if this ensures the politics of dropping Friedel run that bit more smoothly, then I can cope with that.

Bear in mind too, Bale withdrew from the squad less than an hour before the match started. AVB – who would have meticulously planned how he was going to play Chelsea with Bale in the team – had less than an hour to make adjustments.

“Just go out there and run around a bit?”

Personally I think there was some promise out there, along with poor execution IMO. But then I’m not carrying on like Roman Abramovich presumably does either, axe close by. :winke:

      • Jamie says:

I thought Huddlestone looked tired in the warm up?! Surely it was inevitable he’s have to come off, it was just a case of who to bring on. Again looking at our bench, I’m not sure what choice he had?

  • Billy Fiore says:

Bale should’ve taken a muff dive, he would’ve been able to play today.

  • melcyid says:

    metrobale metro metro man

Gomes should at least be our no2 doris our no 1. Brad should be wheeled out only for regaling stories in the dressing room of when I was 25 I played for ? and this happened and then and let me tell you about the time I did and this happened zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Billy Fiore says:

Let’s be honest, if Bale’s baby has ears like him, he could be missing the next three games while they wait for ’em to come out!

    • BabyBale says:

Not one but TWO zingers BF. You’re on fire, mate. As for our lads, it appeared as if the late subtraction of our boy from the lineup threw a wrench into the game plan and looks to have cast a dark shadow over his teamates during a dour first half. No doubt the Freund-AVB hairdryer during tea had the desired effect. But let’s face it, with too many first teamers (Bull, Newsboy, Benny, Dembele and Bale) absent, we were undermanned to begin with. Dempsey flew half way round the world and had no legs. Sigg hasn’t looked good since that cracker in pre-season where he dribbled through the Yanks like Maradonna. And Gallas, bless, is well past his best. On the bright side, did you see that last gasp tackle by Vert to save a sure goal? Wow!

Lets hope now he s got a young family he dos nt want to disrupt them by moving abroad

    • LLL says:

What I want to know is how soon we can get the kid on the books? He owes us now.

  • melcyid says:
