Evenin’ all.

So we managed to do that which the mighty Manchester United could not. Mind you, they probably didn’t get the benefit of being gifted a goal that was offside.

The linesman raised his flag and after the briefest of consultations Mike Dean overruled his assistant and the boos rang around Craven Cottage.

Dear Harold. I appear to have come to the party naked. I have left my gravatar at home and feel a complete fool. I don’t know how it happened as I’m sure I had it when I left the house. I hope I will be forgiven and that no mention will be made in dispatches of this rather embarrassing incident. I don’t know what came over me. I apologise

Oh yes, well done Sandra, a man’s man’s man.

Pav has a good game and scores. Still not good enough for some people.

We did well to come from behind again! Need to stop leeking goals and tighten up Hutton did well and has looked like the player we bought Gallas was solid lacks a bit of sharpness and VDV well what can i say “The boy is a player”

Notwithstanding the imperative to look at slap and have a sing song, the weekends results are also there to ponder, especially so since the lack of any football (and that includes the latest three-lions-asleep-fest) for a fortnight, should have left us all gagging.

A couple of thoughts, firstly bad luck on Fulham, but them’s the breaks and we’ve had our share! I think in the wash-up the ref did get it right but one comment that puzzled me was Sparky talking about “playing him on”. I understand the change to the offside rule has meant that line-of-sight and interference etc. has changed, but if the player IS off-side by virtue of unsighting the keeper or direct interference, then there surely cannot be a concept of “playing someone on”.

My understanding of the rules of the game say that the player is offside when the ball is kicked, any subsequent touch by a defender cannot play him “on” as he already offside regardless of what happens after that. I guess there may be an exception if he is not interfering with play when the ball is kicked but then is involved with play after the ball is touched by a defender. That is a split second differential in most cases though a scuffed ball or a ball stuck in or slowed by mud might change that.

However it does not hold for Saturday’s circumstances and it is a worry if a EPL manager doesn’t understand the concept of the offside rule…..assuming of course I am right and that I do

Everton turned over the dippers and of course we have them next week. Moyes’ lot have done well with what they’ve had available to them over the past few years and we should be wary next week and give them some of the credit rather than assume the dippers did all the work themselves.

looking at the clips, did anyone else spot Gallas ball-watching for their tap in? I think Ledders and Galls together might be a bridge too far in terms of mobility and reaction time at the back. I hope Daws is fit again soon.

Roll on Inter, 4-5-1, park the bus and get them to the lane on even terms. No VDV, Kranks to score 1-1.
