Spurs Fans Suck

My burning question this morning is who are THFC are selling home tickets to these days? Did anyone else feel the hate in the room last night? We seem to revisiting that whole ’emotional investment’ conversation again and again.

Look, I’m not advocating we routinely accept daft results like only taking a point off habitual losers like Sunderland at home. But we perhaps need to think about what support actually is.

I cannot recall an incident where a football team either collectively or by individual player were booed into playing better. But going to the The Lane these days there seems to be an upward swing in the volume of those who are outraged not only when Spurs don’t win but when a specific pass or shot falls short in the ‘magnificent’ stakes.

The internet is different. That’s what I told the cops. But it is. Brutally sledging Bob Keane online is a victimless crime. Nobody dies. Traveling to north London, paying £30 and standing on tip toe screaming despicable and vile abuse at someone wearing the Lilywhite shirt is bordering on psychotic.

Bentley of course was savaged. But his refusal to burst into tears and flee the pitch only served to provoke more hate. 3MP got his. Then Bale, then Modders.

The arrogance amongst our support is becoming increasingly suffocating. Try this for size. Ever heard the phrase, ‘As I Am You Shall Be‘ ? It’s a rough approximation of a not uncommon Roman grave inscription, Quod tu es, ego fui, quod ego sum, tu eris.

If Spurs fans continue along their current path, then they will become an arrogant foul mouthed version of the Woolwich Wanderers down the road. The Gooners haven’t won anything in a dog’s age. Their path instead has taken them on routine qualification for the Champions League.

We laugh out loud at Arsenalization, but you can’t help but wonder if some of our fans were put in charge of Tottinghamization at wherever our new home might be, complimentary scarves draped over seat backs would be replaced with placards marked, ‘W*nkers!’ and ‘F*ck Off Back To Wales!’,

So yes we lost two points. And excuses like our 3 best defenders are out and we haven’t got a striker you can rely upon are boring to hear. But we stand to lose a hell of a lot more if we aren’t careful.

Couldn’t agree more H, we seem to be attracting the same calibre of muppet “supporter” that we denigrate our chums down the road for. I’m not one for blinkered support but FFS cheer the boys and then criticise them after the game in the pub (or a web forum!).

    That said, two major criticisms from last night;

    1. Bentley – why??? Last night was his standard fare in a Spurs shirt, really would rather play Begbie there with Charlie behind him, it couldnt be any worse surely?

    2. With Bale struggling and Benny have his worst game for some considerable time, why did we not push Bale to left back to escape his marker(s) and put Niko on to offer something different?

Oh and just quickly in reply to this. Bentley had a pretty good game since he hasn’t been playing consistently in the side for ages.

And whilst Ekotto was hardly at his defensive best, his attacking threat was constant and excellent.

Taking him off and sticking Kranjkar on would have made no difference, Kranjkar would still have got marked with 2 men and made little impact – especially considering how off the pace he looked in the last game.

We will have to agree to disagree whitey, I can’t find anyone else who thought Bentley turned in even a half decent performance. Agree, however re Benny, my idea was to get Bale more involved by negating the tight marking and thought Niko might have offered something else. Frankly, with fifteen to go we’d run out of ideas, it really couldn’t gave hurt to change it around a little?

I cannot understand how you could even suggest playing Corluka at right back when I can run faster than him

Been awhile since I posted on this site…a long long time in fact…but you have hit the nail on the proverbial head with this one.

To be frank I think that we played some pretty lovely football at times and although Webb had an off day – in terms of Cattermole and some other dodgy penalty-esque decisions – we really should have won.

But I was always under the impression that you boo a poor display, not a poor result. If we wanted to go down that line then the 4-4 draw with Arsenal and Villa should have been booed since the result was shit but the display was fantastic.

I really don’t understand some of our fans sometimes.

I think we can all agree that Peter Crouch is shit, booing at full time because we are not doing well in the league? What do you expect when we’re are not getting results, points win prizes. Harry needs to get the players to perform every game not just in the Champions League. Bolton 4 Spurs 2? 1-1 at home to sunderland??We are well down on the points total of last season, and that is not good enough :-(
