Spurs Fans Suck

My burning question this morning is who are THFC are selling home tickets to these days? Did anyone else feel the hate in the room last night? We seem to revisiting that whole ’emotional investment’ conversation again and again.

Look, I’m not advocating we routinely accept daft results like only taking a point off habitual losers like Sunderland at home. But we perhaps need to think about what support actually is.

I cannot recall an incident where a football team either collectively or by individual player were booed into playing better. But going to the The Lane these days there seems to be an upward swing in the volume of those who are outraged not only when Spurs don’t win but when a specific pass or shot falls short in the ‘magnificent’ stakes.

The internet is different. That’s what I told the cops. But it is. Brutally sledging Bob Keane online is a victimless crime. Nobody dies. Traveling to north London, paying £30 and standing on tip toe screaming despicable and vile abuse at someone wearing the Lilywhite shirt is bordering on psychotic.

Bentley of course was savaged. But his refusal to burst into tears and flee the pitch only served to provoke more hate. 3MP got his. Then Bale, then Modders.

The arrogance amongst our support is becoming increasingly suffocating. Try this for size. Ever heard the phrase, ‘As I Am You Shall Be‘ ? It’s a rough approximation of a not uncommon Roman grave inscription, Quod tu es, ego fui, quod ego sum, tu eris.

If Spurs fans continue along their current path, then they will become an arrogant foul mouthed version of the Woolwich Wanderers down the road. The Gooners haven’t won anything in a dog’s age. Their path instead has taken them on routine qualification for the Champions League.

We laugh out loud at Arsenalization, but you can’t help but wonder if some of our fans were put in charge of Tottinghamization at wherever our new home might be, complimentary scarves draped over seat backs would be replaced with placards marked, ‘W*nkers!’ and ‘F*ck Off Back To Wales!’,

So yes we lost two points. And excuses like our 3 best defenders are out and we haven’t got a striker you can rely upon are boring to hear. But we stand to lose a hell of a lot more if we aren’t careful.

Totally agree Harry. My mates and I sat through the entire match with a pair of utter muppets sitting behind us slating jut about every Spurs player in the pitch. Billy Gallas came in for the most swivel-eyed abuse I’ve heard in a long time. It seems he was at fault for everything from not winning a defensive header right through to the wintery weather and the tube strike… I really have no idea where these football experts have crawled from, but they should feck off back there until they decide to support the team! Yes it was a poor result and I was as disappointed as everyone, but booing the players off the pitch? Jesus H Christ.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks we have more than our fair share of ‘average’ fans.

spot on post and comments. We have an idiot vocal minority who at the first sign of drawing a game or losing one, come out with the manager is rubbish, the players are rubbish, this is a large crisis, panic, panic !! Its absurd. By all accounts we played ok last night and the effort can not be faulted. So we didnt win, so what. If thats all you want, bugger off and support barcelona. These morons seem to think that because we got 4th once its ours by right now. It was always going to be more difficult this year with our injuries and playing in europe, its a learning curve season yet these idiots dont seem to be able to understand. As i said it is a minority, most spurs fans i know are level headed and realistic, sadly that isnt the case for the fans that write online.

Now is probably as good a time as any to reevaluate our ambition, not that we are unable to go on a run to the top 4 this year, but just in case we have a brave run in the CL to say the quarter final stage, and end up in 5th in the league, what then?

Personally I think we can prevent our top players leaving for at least one season if this should happen, and of course Redknapp not leaving till 2012 gives us that solidity in the management as well to have another go again next year. If last year was hard though, this year is harder, and if City finish in the CL places this year it’s going to be very very hard indeed next year. If we don’t manage it again next year, even with a cheeky cup win or something, then I’d say Bale Modders and VDV will look elsewhere.

So what do we need to do to prevent this? I’m not going to pretend our squad doesn’t have other weaknesses such as a fit pair of top quality defenders or consistent full backs, but I reckon the addition of a striker able to play up front on his own, bring people into play and, god forbid, score a few goals would be enough to make the difference. In January? Maybe, but as I said I think we can keep this side together for one more year and if it takes until the summer to get the man we need then let’s do it, then we’d be good enough to finish above one of the top sides again.

booing Gallas is fine. he is scum and always will be. Its not as if he has done anything to win over the support, he has been consistently rubbish, I still see him in Red/white whenever I watch him play. My mind cant comprehend someone so despicable in a Spurs shirt.

However, wurely most of the booing was actually reserved for whatever members of our coaching staff work on set pieces in training during the week? DO we pay them or is it some sort of job seekers initiative we operate?
