Player Ratings – With Added Fluoxetine

Raking through the bones of that game would be as useful as getting a pathologist to examine some roadkill to see if the poor creature had diabetes prior to being run over.

West Ham didn’t squish us so much as relentlessly deny us. It would be churlish to just rant at the strikers. So I’ll have a pop at Arry first if I may. When the team you’re playing changes their strategy, it’s a good idea to rethink your own.

Redschnapps has spoken of hesitancy in the last transfer window. We saw it again today. Defoe was selfish again and again yet H was convinced there was a goal in him. Pav actually offered a touch of 18 yard box creativity but was brought on too late.

West Ham put as many men as they could behind the ball yet we had neither the wit or the imagination to change our plan. Bale drew a minimum of two men every time he got the ball – can anyone recall a decent cross in from him? Wayne Bridge muffled Azza Blud also. But still we ploughed on making no gain from bossing the midfield.

Charlie gave the ball away or made a fist of his possession on virtually every single occasion he had the damn thing in the first half. Again, this was allowed to carry on and on and on.

On this showing Real Madrid must be bricking it.

Gomes 7 Didn’t do much, did it well
A&E 7 Mostly very assured
Charlie 4 Slow & clumsy
Gallas 4 What was with the endless back-passes?
Dawson 6 Sensational. For the first 20 minutes
Sandro 7.39 Triffic
Modric 8 Our Champions League class player
Azza Blud 6 Bar the shot failed to make a difference
Bale 7.92 Intelligent and committed
VDV 6.57 Fit?
Defoe 4 For Sale with any luck
Pav 6.56 Tried
Begbie 6 Should be an 8 – twice as good as Charlie
Chris Coleman – Britain’s Most Stupid Human
Redschnapps – Not to be confused with Mourinho

Spurs is a two men team this season: Bale and VDV. With their individual performances those two players could win games for the team when the collective efforts were failing. There is absolutely no other player in the club who can do that. So when those two players are out of form, injured or their physical condition isn’t at the proper level the team very difficult can win a game given the inability of the strikers. Spurs is the only team that none of its strikers can score regularly this season and also they can’t pass the ball properly between them inside the box. I consider as crucial for not wining more games the fact that the team didn’t buy, after the proper scouting work, at least one regularly scoring striker in January’s window.

VdV is not consistent. VdV cannot last a full game. VdV plays 2/3rds of a season, every year. VdV has knee issues.

Let’s build a team around him.

Come on, Modric has been playing well for most of the season. Don’t ignore this man. He has played much better than Bale and Vdv recently too. Those 2 have just scored goals. Ioanx – you say about us not buying a striker in January to score goals, well how many strikers signed then are scoring League goals? Torres? Dzeko? Suarez? They aren’t scoring because it is hard to work ’em in at this time – you by striker in summer.

Any of those boys in a team like ours that creates so much would be scoring. Our problem is not creating chances but finishing them. With a clinical finisher we would be real contenders. We all know this.

I would argue that if Spurs were a two-man team, it would be Bale and Modric ?? VdV is clearly not there (yet)…

I dont agree. Surely the kind of player we are talking about is the kind that can turn a game. That being the case we have: Modders, Lennon, Bale, Krankie, VDV, Tug Boat?, Even Crouch has been vital at times. They are not all world class perhaps, but I dont think we are a 1/ 2 man team.

  • TonyRich says:

Defoe should have scored yes, but had a decent game nevertheless. Give a touch of credit…. Even Sky Sports gave Defoe a 7. Bale was a 6, Lennon was a 7. Lennon didn’t waste a cross….when he did cross it. Modders and Sandro were legendary.

Defoe will bw wearing that t shirt for a very long time I guess. I could show him how to put it in properly. Talking of which any of you nice boys free tonight, you won’t regret it. HHXX

this is up on the official site: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/articles/new-deal-for-bale-190311.html

i thought he signed one in the summer, so am assuming this is to push his price up this summer

THFC are as subtle a s brick.

      The natives are revolting
I know, I saw a few on the way in
      No I mean angry
Ah, why don’t we bring Monday’s press release on Bale forward a day or two?
      Inspired, I’m on it.

Calmed down a bit since earlier, still can’t believe we didn’t win that game. Some of our passing & movement was awesome today but our finishing was woeful

We need a goal scorer – sick of groundhog days, time to break the bank and bring in some true class

If we had a striker of note we’d be up challenging manure & the scum for the title

    • Harry Hotspur says:

That’s it in a nutshell, isn’t it? We’re all foreplay and no shoo bee do bee do*.
