Africa Screams

Good evening.

In Africa Screams, Abbott & Costello search for diamonds in Africa, along the way meeting a visually-impaired Stooge, hungry lions, not to mention the locals… Funny how life imitates art, as David Cameron is played perfectly by Shemp Howard who met up with the Spurs boys in Pretoria when he could have been in London overseeing a Commons Select Committee.

Diamonds are evidently in extremely short supply but if you’re looking for hungry lions Van der Vaart & the boy Bale fit the bill perfectly. The fire and the focus in these two is a pleasure to watch.

But elsewhere we look every inch like a mob with issues.

Someone needs to find Arry one of those heat machines they have at the Mega Store so the numbers on the backs of some of our shirts can have pound signs put in front of them.

It’s the second game of pre-season, they’ve hardly touched a ball. For some of them it’s the first time game. VDV and Bale look good already. But I thought Dawson and Walker looked great too. Rose was promising. We knew before the game that we had a striker problem, but maybe we can get Defoe going this year. Kaboul didn’t look bad, and we didn’t have King, Gallas, Huddlestone or Sandro out there, which would have made a big difference. Everyone moaning all the time!

For the time being, it’s about getting the players fit. It’s not like we have new players who need to impress or to see where they fit in.

The thing that annoys me is how many games we have coming up against the likes of Barnet. I think we need to be playing top opposition to really prepare, or we’ll turn up at Everton and get rolled over.

Anyone think M***** would be slightly embarrassed being made Captain after what has gone on?

Modric being made captain was and is nothing short of farcical.

Insulting our club does not merit being rewarded.

Martin Cloake mentioned in a recent article, when we got relegated Steve Perrymann felt responsible to stay and bring us back to the top tier.

Modric was a key cog in our team that failed to maintain CL status, so he spat the dummy out and demands he wants out. Rather than stay and accept his contribution to the failure, acknowledge our loyalty to him – and bring us back there.

Key qualities for a captain IMO, are loyalty and a strong heart. Modric has neither. Nor (historically and very likely in the future) does the manager who made him captain.

I think most would agree that Modric was our best player last season, making him less cuplable than most of the others.

Doesn’t justify him being disloyal and trying to jump ship though.

I think that if there’s a chance Harry can keep him here, this is the best way. Give him some responsibility, get him used to the idea he’s here for another season, then let him deal with it. Hate the way he’s behaved, but who here wouldnt honestly want to move to another company offering triple your current salary? It’s Chavscum I detest for all this, tapped him up, offered us joke money for someone who’s on 5 yr contract just to turn his head, ignore us stating he’s not for sale and then come back with a second bid. Modric’s even come out & said AVB wants him in his team! Find the fact they seem to be getting away with this so hard to stomach.

      fully agree!

  • SpoletoSpur says:

If he stays this season maybe I’ll get number 14 and ‘Rat Faced C**t’ on the back of my shirt.

    Whereas normally I have No.8 and just ‘C**t’ :)

John Terry on Luca Modric: “He’s agile, quick and a great finisher…”

    Que?

    • Spurstacus says:

Good finisher? Has he ever seen modders play? Or is it that modders wife is a sort- and cap’n terry is making an early bid.
