Sherwood: Villas-Boas Will Give Harry Kane First Team Chance

Good morning.

Harry Kane scored nine goals for Milwall last year.

Good news – I think – is that Timothy Sherwood has told NewsAtDen.com that Kane is in André Villas-Boas’ plans.

“We don’t think there’s any value in loaning Harry out to the Championship again. He’s ticked that box.

“He may need a few more games if he’s not in the frame at Tottenham, but he’s going to be given every opportunity to prove himself to the new manager. If the manager decides he’s not ready, that would be the only time we would consider loaning him out.

“But as we stand, we’re not looking to loan him.”

“I know Kenny Jackett because we played together at Watford, so there’s a connection there. Millwall is a good move for our young boys because it gives them experience and it’s local.

“Sometimes it works out, as with Kane, but sometimes it doesn’t, as with Mason.

“I will sit down with the new manager and talk in more depth about his philosophy on loaning younger players.

“We don’t really learn anything from sending players to the Championship for a second time.”

I don’t think Andy Carroll would do a better job than Adebayor. AC is still developing as a striker and could be a really dangerous player given the right environment and support.
Adebayor is more or less the finished product although he could do better with an improved service from midfield the wings and a bit less selfishness from fellow strikers.

      A finished product that can’t…finish!

I’m joking, his 17 goals, numerous assists and all round work rate were great last year, but imagine he finished 1/4 of the chances he SHOULD have scored!

This is the reason we need a clinical striker on the books. Although they say that Jermain Defoe is one of the best finishers around…maybe if he started every game he would get 20+ goals?

We’ve got a perfect opportunity to blood these youngsters in 2 competitions that aren’t exactly top of the agenda, namely the Europa league and the whateverthefuckit’scalledthisyears League cup.It was great to see players like Carroll and Kane, play in the flesh, and it’ll be interesting to see how they’ve developed a season on. The Europa offers nothing to us in terms of kudos or cash, and is a pain in the bum if we’re to compete for a CL slot again this year.Use for our longer term development, otherwise it’s just a waste of space.

I don’t understand what why we haven’t put any money or effort into buying strikers for the last few years, apart from Ade and that was only a loan.
Maybe Levy didn’t want to give any money to Harry but i don’t know why it’s taking AVB so long to sort a striker out.

Harry Kane is most definitely not good enough for a starting position, and personally i don’t think he ever will be. Why not try Coulibaly instead as even though he is young, he seems to actually be able to score goals, bring him into the first team gradually this season?

We need some seriously decent strikers and we need to push the boat out financially as far as a club like Tottenham can, or yet again this season we will regret it!

    • We need strikers??????

Now Astro that is a serious Concept!!

Why didnt THEY think of that.

Hulk 45 million We offered 6.3

Damiao 38 million we offered 4.3

Llorente 85 million We offered Jenas

Berba 3.5 million we offered our condolences

Carroll a toothpick we didnt offer anything

But look Im thinking positive here.

I do trust in Levy its only the beg of August and Jose is playing poker with the man.

Forget the 3 million extra, then we can get down to business.

Everyone banging on about Coulibaly on the basis of a couple of youtube clips of him scoring in a youth tournament, get real. If he was a better option than Kane right now, he would be in the frame. As he isn’t in the frame I can only trust Sherwood et al’s judgement that he isn’t ready.

Without sounding like Wenger with a woody, i’d give that young Ivorian kid Coulibaly more game time than i would Kane.

I was thinking exactly the same thing Boris, almost went to type it, and bang, you stole my thunder as well as my oyster card money.

      Any spare Olympic tickets going?

  • TMWNN says:

Anyone noticed that as well as the dippers playing in the loser league tonight, that there’s a team called ‘Arsenal Kiev’? Arsenal is the new chicken.
