Sherwood: Villas-Boas Will Give Harry Kane First Team Chance

Good morning.

Harry Kane scored nine goals for Milwall last year.

Good news – I think – is that Timothy Sherwood has told NewsAtDen.com that Kane is in André Villas-Boas’ plans.

“We don’t think there’s any value in loaning Harry out to the Championship again. He’s ticked that box.

“He may need a few more games if he’s not in the frame at Tottenham, but he’s going to be given every opportunity to prove himself to the new manager. If the manager decides he’s not ready, that would be the only time we would consider loaning him out.

“But as we stand, we’re not looking to loan him.”

“I know Kenny Jackett because we played together at Watford, so there’s a connection there. Millwall is a good move for our young boys because it gives them experience and it’s local.

“Sometimes it works out, as with Kane, but sometimes it doesn’t, as with Mason.

“I will sit down with the new manager and talk in more depth about his philosophy on loaning younger players.

“We don’t really learn anything from sending players to the Championship for a second time.”

After a strong start to the transfer window things have stalled badly. We need to get shod of Ratboy, pick up a creative midfielder and at least two quality strikers tout suite. Otherwise our squad is looking dangerously unbalanced and I can’t see us starting well

The reason why Harry Kane has been in the side is surely because of the lack of available experienced strikers. He’s showing good progress for a player of his age, he’s in the England set-up and has scored goals with Millwall and Orient.Okay he didn’t set the world alight in the friendlies but then again only Bale and Sig did. Far be it from me to claim better insight than Tim Sherwood but perhaps a full season in the Championship with a better club than Millwall would serve him well. That’s if we’ve got enough players to replace him.

The goons have bought Giroud, Podolski & look like they are getting Sahin & Cazola (can’t be arsed looking up spellings!). Chavski have bought Micky Hazzard, Oscar, Marin (who I thought looked class against us in the CL a couple of years ago). We’ve bought Vert (who effectively replaces Ledley Legend) and a guy Swansea had on loan last year, plus we’ve sent Ade back. As things stand our two closest rivals look loads better while we look worse! JD as our only striker good god what are we doing! Even if Ade comes in permanently we still need another striker and possibly a winger to cover for Bale & Azza (although J2S may come good?) and possibly a Modders replacement! Please Mr Levy pull your finger out!

Oh shit! and the transfer window is closed. We’re doomed

But the season is only two weeks away – the risk of another slow start is very real if the players haven’t trained together.

We can’t afford a bad start either. The last cretin to manage us (********, in case anyone’s forgotten) got away with it as the press were tight up his arse. They will have a field day with AVB if the same thing happens.

We’ve still got rat boy, ***** and the twit Bentley on the books, but not one worthy striker. It’s bullshit!

“Chelsea have bought some good players and Spurs have bought a new training ground.”

Could Carroll do a better job than Adebeyor ?
We should take sahin on a permanent deal.

    Re: Harry Kane.
I remember years ago, reading the club programme and noting that Kerry Dixon was scoring a lot of goals for us in the youth team. For whatever reason we let him go only to eventually turn up for Chelsea scoring a shedfull of goals. I think that he is a good prospect and we should continue to develop him.

    • Nicky B says:

      Agreed. Can’t judge him yet.

    • Gary B says:

Agreed. He’s just turned 19, has 4 years on Sturridge. Obviously not the finished article, but excellent work rate and attitude, brought along properly he’ll be a valuable addition.

He led the line well in the New York match, good mobility & link up play, and didn’t shirk on closing players down when not in possession.

While we need a top class striker, it would be ridiculous to write him off on the strength of a couple of early, pre-season, fitness gaining matches.
