Sherwood: Villas-Boas Will Give Harry Kane First Team Chance

Good morning.

Harry Kane scored nine goals for Milwall last year.

Good news – I think – is that Timothy Sherwood has told NewsAtDen.com that Kane is in André Villas-Boas’ plans.

“We don’t think there’s any value in loaning Harry out to the Championship again. He’s ticked that box.

“He may need a few more games if he’s not in the frame at Tottenham, but he’s going to be given every opportunity to prove himself to the new manager. If the manager decides he’s not ready, that would be the only time we would consider loaning him out.

“But as we stand, we’re not looking to loan him.”

“I know Kenny Jackett because we played together at Watford, so there’s a connection there. Millwall is a good move for our young boys because it gives them experience and it’s local.

“Sometimes it works out, as with Kane, but sometimes it doesn’t, as with Mason.

“I will sit down with the new manager and talk in more depth about his philosophy on loaning younger players.

“We don’t really learn anything from sending players to the Championship for a second time.”

hopefully now avb is back from the tour and had time to access the squad we will see some activity in the market

HH you are a sarcastic brat, that headline was chewed over and over when AVB joined and here you are regurgitating the item and pretending it’s new news. Then you go on to castigate someone who, like myself, is frustrated at your micky mouse statements and ITK predictions that are as far away from reality as ‘The Beano’. When is Ade signing, ITK my bottom.

      cookiebun,

If you want to point to how I was dressing this up as new news, then please do.
If you want to announce that the transfer window is shut, please do.
If you don’t like the blog, you won’t be missed, people without self control are a liability.

You come across as a child with an attention disorder.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, you’ve gone too far now cookiebun you really have.

Calling in to question the reality of the Beano? Next you’ll be telling us that Desperate Dan isn’t real.

I have to say in HHs defence.
In these last few blogs the mention of Harry Kane and his career at Spurs has been discussed so I think it makes sense that HH releases a new blog for us to discuss it.

I guess people are just pissed off with the lack of actual news as of late and are lashing out.

Maybe with Sigurdsson, Bale & VDV banging them in we won’t need any strikers ;)

9 goals at Millwall, presumably over the entire season, doesn’t really fill me with excitement.

Kane receives a lot of hype, but when ever I’ve seen him he looks a bit on the average side to me.

    • cookiebun says:

Agreed and he looks decidedly akward and without confidence.

    • Zagreb Bar says:

Incorrect presumption. Joined them in January and I believe scored 10 goals in 28 games.

Agree he doesn’t quite look up to it. But no harm in giving the boy a chance in pre-season.

9 goals in a loan since Jan, bearing in mind the team (Millwall) were hardly blessed with talent,I’d say that makes it a ‘not bad’ return.
Supporters continually moan about the lack of home grown talent, preferring to bring in highly paid mercenaries from abroad, yet are equally prepared to dismiss anyone from their own ranks as average, which makes the 45m spent on new training facilities and youth development a waste of money! Not saying he’s the finished article, but at least cut our youngsters some slack!

I’m with you on that. The teams he’s played in have been made of new signings and returning players. As well as not being able to gel because of lack of games. I would be happy for him to start on bench or play for injured strikers (as TMWNN mentioned).A couple of goals and we may see a good surprise.

I think some supporters need a reality check sometimes and should evaluate our actual standing as a club in comparison to those we’re looking to challenge. Take Oscar’s recent transfer to Chelsea for example. He was our’s for the taking, but Chelsea blew us away with a ‘we’ll top whatever they offer’ bid, and that’s what we’re up against for the next season at least. Youth players and their progression are vital to the club’s well being, and they must be given a chance to shine, that is a fact of life for us right now.

  • Cuddlestone says:

Adebayor, Defoe, Kane plus VDV, Siggy, Bale chipping in wouldn’t be such a bad front line. If we play 1 up top we don’t need the depth that City/Utd have, but it’s still going to be looking pretty lonely role if we get an injury or two. Plus Ade, A. hasn’t and may not sign, and B. is the only target type man of that bunch. Our inability to sign someone is fast becoming a serious problem.

…I lose count of how many seasons we’ve been promised (or promised ourselves) a marquee striker and ended up back at Defoe.
