Faith: A Condemned Prisoner Requesting A Doggy Bag During His Last Meal

Good afternoon.

I’m struggling to get my head around where the boss is heading with this whole Adebayor business. Now clearly I write this from the perspective of someone who believes Adebayor to be a superior player to Defoe.

…at the moment we’re using one striker and Defoe is doing extremely well. At the moment, Adebayor is in contention for games where we play two strikers. He’s done extremely well in the games that he has come on but we have not found comfort in a formation with two strikers yet.

Villas-Boas oversaw this transfer. It was so – on – then off – then back on again – that it would be ambitious to suggest he didn’t have the opportunity to halt it. Also, there is this whole extraordinarily in depth scouting business. It’s really difficult to argue that once Ade eventually showed up for training that smiles suddenly turned into frowns. AVB must have known what he was buying.

Adebayor is not only a superior player of unquestionable human dimensions but he’s also not cheap. This isn’t like having Livermore sometimes getting a game, sometimes not. At least we now now that it isn’t a hamstring, it’s a tactical choice – but why Ade doesn’t fit the system is something I’m struggling to see.

I’ve great faith in the boss. But this does leave me really puzzled.

Did I miss something or did the sequence of events not go something like this:
    1) He eventually signs having had no pre-season to speak of.
    2) He immediately picks up an injury
    3) He is fit again just in time for the international break
    4) AVB decides not to use him from the start in the first game back.
    5) Press desperate to whip up another non-story invent ‘pick me or I’m off’ headline.

He arrived not fit and Defoe has scored goals so he has to wait.

Adebayor hasn’t said anything and AVB answers questions from reporters trying to create a story with his usual foreign grasp of the English language.

things for avb to address as a matter of urgency.
    what to do about ade/defoe
what to do about walkers “defending”
what to do about vert not playing centre half
what to do about dempsey being shit
what to do about sigg drifting in and out of games

the answer to all these questions rely on players regaining fitness, injured players replacing others and settling on a working system using everybody’s strengths (which changes every week depending on the opposition)

patience is key, watch us have a storming second half of the season.

when you think how much the squad has changed and the new manager and mentality installed in the club, its not alot to ask.

he has to keep defoe sweet because (i suspect with no proof) that he is a very sensitive sort and also make sure ade knows his place isnt nailed on.

good management is whats happening (i hope)

the things listed are not all my own personal issues of course, more a summary of what has been raised lately. The timescale stated is a reflection of what others feel is required.
I think the resolution speaks for itself.
I also think you are very clever.

The fact the issues above have been present either from day one, or at least three games, demonstrates it aint good management that we are witnesing presently!! :-(

Nice to see some respect for Defoe on here today. He’s not the most prolific striker but he has been scoring. Who knows, we may even move him on at the end of the season.
