Your Man Of The Match – Versus Everton

Mine was undoubtedly Kaboul.

There were lots of positives (you never hear this phrase after a win – funny that) from lots of players. But Kaboul was for want of a better word, staunch. He arrived at The Lane with a burden of expectation upon his Gallic shoulders and the old girl never quite bore the weight.

Jarred off then wholesaled off to Pompey he appeared to, in very technical parlance, get a bit better. His return was heralded with the same disinterest as his departure. Part of some debt consolation deal or a kick back on some Premiership Club Card reward program, I forget.

But he looks to be genuinely on the level now. And in a aside that has habitual ‘back four issues’, that’s a welcome addition.

Kaboul just about shades it. I was personally gutted when we sold he and Defoe, and surprisingly delighted we got Kaboul back, although I think we could have looked at other strikers…
BAE was scary but I like him, Sandro looks quality and Wonder Vaart was his usual self.
I’m a bit gutted at just a point though, what with Man ew next…

Kaboul was impressive, definitely improved and seems more confident but I’m voting for modric, it was good to see him stringing the opposition defence along again, something he doesnt do with VdV and Hudd, nice to see him switch between a midfield meastro and an old fashioned centre midfielder as needed. Also, he’s a terrier biting at heels, why were we ever worried about his build?

On a seperate note, Palacios seemed to grow as the half went on, started hiding behind peinaar but after 10-15 mins he was finding space and demanding the ball regardless of where he was, a small thing on the surface but a good sign recovery may be mentally underway, his passing was positive as well, glad we could bring on sandro though, not long ago we would have just hoped Palacios didnt get a second card. Not every game needs a midfield destroyer, but this one was always going to be one that did.

motm was Modders, no doubt..thrilling to see him playing his heart out, when you know he’s also got the capability..
AE was pretty damn good yesterday, but am afraid he’ll cost us points one (probably crucial) day..but like him..
Good to see Lennon getting back to his former self..Rafa was class..again..Kaboul defensively good..Beanpole was a drama..

But Kabul, must have one hell of a commute to get to the game on time, no?
