Tottingham coach and part time Range Rover driver told Radio Talksport:

“If we want to win the Premier League and compete in the Champions League, we’ve got to go after the best players.

“And if Wayne Rooney became available it would be interesting to see if we could go for him.

“For years Spurs have been known as a selling club but if you look at our squad we’ve arguably got the the best squad in the Premier League.

“Harry wants to add one or two quality players to that and, if he can do that, we’ll have a serious chance of challenging for the Premier League.

Finn as ever addresses several key points.

Yesterday’s ‘action’ was a pitiful exercise to watch. Bale has admittedly another good game and so the entire Spurs community clucks like wet hens wondering who will come in and take him.

Before we start dreaming about the pros and cons of hiring the services of a global household name, we seriously need to change our mindset.

Instead of being the weak kid with glasses in the corner of the playground waiting for a bully to inevitably swoop for our dinner money, we need to learn to stand up straight, choose some funkier frames and start talking to girls.

In short, stop behaving like a victim.

You can’t become bullet proof in this business. That’s nigh on impossible. If the player wants out he wants out. But you can project a persona that leaves you less likely to be treated like a schmuck.

On the money issue, I believe it’s inevitable we’ll break our wage structure. But it has to be broken, like a heart for someone who’s worth it.

      Agreed.
Of course i would want to keep Bale as well as get Rooney in. Why not?
This club is only going up. We are the future of English Prem football. And i say that because we have been run with some foresight for a long time by DL. The new financial regulations, squad rules etc are simplying playing into our current structure anyway…
I dont know a lot about it truth be told, but it just feels right.

In parting, i dont see why Rooney wouldnt come to us. (i even saw a pic of him reading the Gazza autobiography) That counts for something right>?

I may be being extremely naive, but I’m sure the grumpy bastard from Govan would rather he played for us than Citeh or Chelski…just a thought. I think we’d shell out the fee for him, but whether he’d be worth obliterating our wage structure for…dunno

A couple of things may change the landscape.

Firstly there is less dosh about so transfer fees and wages will be affected. Secondly the salary cap may help even up the playing field.

As for us. In a market where the player is King no club can be certain to hang on to their stars. But we are on the up and as long as we keep improving we will be less susceptible losing our top players.

Either way I expect Bale to be around for a while.

£50m plus a couple of 100k per week. May mean we only aford 3 sides for the new triangular stadium. Besides, he’s hardly the prodigal son these days.

Guys like Bale, Modric, Thudd and VdV are our future…..

As a sequel to Finn’s latest Novel (whens the movie coming out) :daumen: , I dont see why we cant get another player like Berba in? i had never heard of this bloke before he came. Next thing you know he is world class and being sold to Man U.
Same goes for the blokes le arse get in. I will use the defener Vermaelen as an example. SOme Belgium guy rocks up and top scores for them in the first few games he plays. who the heck is he?

The fact is ,there are loads of players out there like this. Sometimes they play well in their own league but play even better in the Prem.
    (a la Berba)

I think its very doable that we continue looking and find these kinds of players.

Our wage structure is fine. The dynamic needed for a player to be wanted in the first place by a club offering big bucks, including the players desire to leave on top of actually playing well and believing he could do better and be happier elsewhere; is a very exact science.

Lennon had been fantastic last year, no one mentioned him being sold once…
We’ve only lost players because they were c*nts…not because we WANTED to sell.
So they never deserved to play for us anyways imo.

    Balls to Rooney.

  • TMWNA says:

    He’s staying at ManUre.

Just signed a new 5 year contract.

Loving his statement. Not written by David Gill at all.

      • Trembly says:

Ruiney is a mentally diseased cnut.

What a waste of time all the sh*t was. Well done on getting more cash for hos. I hope he has an injury ravaged 5 years and Manure go into decline anyway.
