Well the end of the year and perhaps only the beginning of something pretty special for all us Tottinghams. This new year holds so much potential for excitement and the good news is …it’s only a few hours away. Let me wish you and those you call your own the very best and leave you with a few bits and pieces to hopefully make you smile.  I look forward to seeing all of you  – even those demanding refunds – next year. “What you do for Jewish New Year is you go down to Times Square… It’s a lot quieter…

Wotcha. News breaking this morning that the PSB to West Ham ‘loan package’ is a late entry into the British Comedy Awards.  The signing on fee is £2M and if they stay up it’s another £1M. For starters I can’t see who in their right mind would want a striker who can’t score this side of Hadrian’s but the staying up bit is priceless. Other transfer gossip is thin on the ground beyond the usual threats and allegations, although their was a mention in the Italian press that Dos Santos was linked with Brimingham.  Ho hum. Fulahm will be a…

This is a good thing. HH understands that a loan deal with an option to buy has been agreed with Real Madrid. Benzema has been inked tentatively with many other clubs under the slowly reemerging sun including Le Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa and Manchester City of course. Arry made a typical Arry style denial about the player last month. Loving the ‘at the moment’ bit. He’d swear not guilty in the Old Bailey and add, ‘probably’ afterwards. ‘There’s nothing in that,’ he said. ‘He’s a good player, I like him, he looks a real talent. But certainly we haven’t made any…

This was another game that the Tottinghams of old would have found cause to botch in some way. Roughty toughty northerners showing up on your doorstep looking for bother, a chill in the air. No thank you missus. Cheatski’s demise at the hands of The French will have undoubtedly cause ripples of delusional grandeur at the Emptycrates, but Arsenal have yet to beat anyone good. For the first time in a long time we sit fourth and actually look worth every penny. Arry was interesting on Talksport after the game. Essentially he confirmed the interest in Scott Parker and the…

The name in the frame is Lucas Barrios. Bazza is the worst kept secret in football having been an erstwhile Manchester Citeh target as well as supposedly having attracted interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan. He currently plies his trade at Dortmund, a football club based primarily in Germany. The 25 year old is a Paraguayan international who has found the zweibel sack 19 times in 33 appearances for ze Germans. This has to put a question mark over 3MP given PSB’s market value can only be at best around the £8M mark.

Pires is a ponce silly boy. If I was to draw up a list of really stupid things not to do as they may result in my death or permanent injury, somewhere between the top and the bottom would be, ‘have a pop at Joe Jordan, or at very least one of his mates while Joe is standing close by’. Here’s some almost ropey footage of the incident…. HERE Otherwise it was a nerve jangling affair with Jermain Defoe being entered in the case file of clips that prove referees need video technology to aid them in their task. And the BAFTA for Getting An…

When I was a kid, our family procuring the big tin of Quality Street for Christmas was a status symbol. I have a clear recollection of one year being told upfront that there would be no big tin as we did didn’t have any spare money that year.  I had no concept of the expense required to deliver a big tin but it was obviously much much nearer to that of an Action Man than a Family Circle box of biscuits was. The  Quality Street big tin was also what we call in the trade a maximum security consumable. You could say you were going to get a…

I don’t know if they still do it, but the Sunday Times always used to do a feature in their last Colour Supplement of the year. It was a few pages filled with passport sized photographs of famous folk who’d snuffed it that year. My responses to the snaps was always the same. Flitting between, ‘Aged 69? She was a pensioner in her black and white films?’ to ‘**** off, he was on Wogan last night.’ But what happened overall was you got a sense of time moving on. To attempt to reproduce this in football blog terms might prove…
